Wasn't expecting much on the way to Zero point from Lachung. This place is definitely worth the 3 hours of travel one way. Saw part of road covered with ice, partially frozen river and completely frozen water cascades which made it quite memorable.

When you go to zero point, you would get more than your bargained for along the way there. The scenery is better than what I have experienced in Ladakh I swear. Yumthang Valley is enough you really dont need to go to zero point.

ZERO POINT! What comes to your mind when you hear this- Snowy Mountains, Ice, Snowballs, Cold weather; Well yes that's what this place is all about. Making a 3 hour journey from Lachung village, comes the zero point. It is a place filled with snow and I had gone in May so luckily only very less snow had melted. The recommended time to visit it frrom 9:00 am to 1:00pm after that it would get too cold and windy. A reminder to wear BOOTS and 2-3 layered clothing, something covering your head and ears if you want to enjoy completely. Have a snowball fight, make snowmans or climb the mountain. But according to me the snow will start melting by June. And on the roadside there would be few stalls where you can drink chai and coffee and eat maggi to make your body warm.

Commonly called as Zero point is extremely cold and deficient of Oxygen. Rough roads to Zero point, maintained by GREF (Border Roads Organisation) in extreme conditions. Army camps all along the route from Lachung to Zero Point. Army also provides free tea and small eats at nominal price. One famous place is Jalebi Point. One must have the Jalebis here. Army also maimtains washrooms for Ladies and Gents here.
A serene place at 15748 feet. Must have hot chana and coffee after going around Zero Point. You can also get some hard drinks. Speciality is Rum with hot Coffee.

Situated at an altitude of 15,300 ft. above Mean Sea Level, Yumesamdong or Zero point is nature personified. It is a place very close to the Indo Chinese border in North Sikkim. From Yumthang Valley, tourists can further take a drive or trek up to the Zero Point (end of Yumthang Valley), which remains covered in snow throughout the year. If you are lucky enough, you can experience fresh snowfall even in the month of June. Snow and snow everywhere in the region is the major draw for tourists visiting this place. Please note that you need to take the inner line permit from the Army authorities in North Sikkim before visiting the Zero Point....
