he tiny state of Sikkim throws many lures to travelers and one of them is ‘Yumthung Valley’,basically a recent addition to the tourist map of Sikkim.Away from the maddening crowd, hidden in the slope of north Sikkim's highland,a summer grazing pasture at an elevation of 11,800 feet provides little heavens of respite for harassed travelers.A huge meadow- Sikkim's mountain and glaciers come flowing down to valley's slope, crisscrossed by the shimmering water of mountain streams, studded with wild flowers, surrounded by the forest of fir.Yak's were grazing sluggishly on the slopes of high mountain. There were certain lure in the murmuring sound of the mountain streams,I sat upon the valley's flower bed for a long time, lost in the world, absorbed by the brilliance of nature.

loved the blooming flowers and rooming yaks and the river bed and wide spread area to run around.... one can spend unlimited time viewing the beauty of the place and getting clicked ;-)

I hated the exorbitant price at which coffee and tea were sold !

This will be a 2 day trip, but it surely is worth it. The place is an awesome snow covered peak. Advise to people who get altitude sickness - consult your physician before the trip. The downside is the travel involved for the trip - it takes almost 7-12 hours depending on weather conditions and your vehicle. Go by a Bolero or Scorpio or Innova since they have better suspension and the motion sickness is lesser. Advice you to stay at a local homestay and eat the local food. If that is not for you then take lots of Maggie and ready to eat stuff because you will not find much there. Go early morning to the valley and enjoy a cup of hot tea in the snow.

Please note that many tour guides do not include this in the package, so ask your guide beforehand about the trip.

After tedious journey, night stay at Lachung, a picturesque , calm village,we proceed 26km to yumthang, after crossing military post. On the way snow, snow everywhere,in trees, hills ,planys, flowers,it is heavenlike feeling. It should be visted once in a life, the words cannot give full picture.

Yumthang valley is a tourist spot which is in between on the way to Yumesadong - Zero Point! Normally, all tourist stop on their way to spend around half an hour to enjoy the beauty of the spot, freshen themselves (as it as washroom facilities) and treat themselves to some hot tea, snacks or momo's.

The spot is an all-in-one scenic beauty spot. One can see lush greenery, flowing river, flowers, clouds, snow capped mountains at a distance! The view, the serene surrounding and the aura of the place is superb.

Worth a visit for sure!
