“Too Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

beauty of the place is too good.
if you visit between April to early June you can see lot of snow & after that its covered with flowers.
a place further ahead known as Zero Point is also very good but this is closed upto early May depending on weather. one can have breathing difficulty.
Winter gears such as jackets, boots, gloves etc are available on rent at both places.

“Spell Binding Beauty - Has to be seen to be believed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

The enchanting beauty of yumthang valley located at around 11800 ft has to be seen to be believed.Starting on 20th April,2013 we stayed overnight at Lachung around 125km (6 hrs drive) from Gangtok before proceeding towards Yumthang valley early morning next day..Road condition from gangtok to Lachung ranges from bad to worse at some places.

From Lachung It takes around 1hr for the 25 km drive to yumthang. As the taxi neared the destination the sight of the pine trees and mountains covered with snow was fascinating and the entire group was mesmerised by the sheer beauty of the place..Seasonal Rhododendron Flower can also be witnessed in full bloom during april and may in the valley..Heaven on earth !!

Tips -
1. Winter jacket and Snow boot available for hire at Yumthang valley point and also at Lachung @ around Rs 50.
2.For overnight stay at Lachung the Hotels are given as per the package chosen(Budget / Luxury). We had gone for the budget package but was not happy with the poor accommodation facilities. Suggest travellers to go for luxury package for few extra bucks since it can be pretty cold in Lachung during night time.
3.The shared taxi can go upto zero point from yumthuang valley for extra charge.(Negotiate for Rs 3000/- for full taxi)
4.Persons with High altitude sickness should be careful..

“Not So Charming”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

Been to Yumthang Valley as adviced by the travel agents. This place is not so attractive . Its on high altitude altough but no ice can be found in month of March to July. However if one wishes to feel the beauty of ice covered mountains and snow shower , place known as Zero Point is highly advisible as per me.
Considering its high altitude of one can find little bit of difficulty in breathing or can get exhausted easily while playing with snow. Winter gears such as jackets , boots ,gloves etc are available on rent at Zero Point and Yumthang Valley.
Zero Point is a perfect destination to visit , and it is 25 Kms from Yumthang Valley.

“Breathtaking Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

At approx 6 Hrs drive from Gangtok, lies Lachung.. Another half an hour drive is the Yumthang Valley. It offers breathtaking views of River Teesta surrounded by rows of Pine trees and Snow capped mountains..Tour of Sikkim is incomplete without a visit here.
