We went for our 1st Anniversary celebration and it turned out to be great decision. As special gesture from the Hotel, we were upgraded to the suite. Everything was fab..... weather it was food or the courteous staff. In spite of being quite an old building, it is fantastically maintained.
Don't miss relaxing in their Infinity Pool on the roof top.

The Samode Palce didn't live up to our expectations, to be honest. The landscape, the drive and the village outside the gates were lovely, but we found some of the hotel staff extremely rude, and the food wasn't that great, in our opinion. We were also disturbed at night by our room phone ringing twice in the small hours - apparently the children of some other guests, but not a great experience. Not a patch on the Rambaugh Palace or the Oberoi Amarvilas at Aggra.

We were only here for one night, but would have stayed longer if there had been rooms available. Magnificent palace, with three courtyards each leading on from the other. Infinity pool at the top of the hotel overlooking the hills a delightful place to while away the time. Food in the Indian restaurant very good, and tour of the wonderful sheesh mahal (mirrored palace) a must. Expensive, but worth it.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a Deluxe Suite for a wedding. We enjoyed our stay. This is an old-school Indian palace hotel that has been around for a long time. It is a low-key, lovely, relaxing place with its own charm; it has chipped paint & friendly but casual service. It is not in the same category as the newly upgraded luxury palace hotels, the Amans or the Oberois, but then neither are its prices. Its stunning, incredibly well preserved frescoed & mirrored halls are worth a visit in their own right. It's a relaxing place to while away a couple of days & get a feel for history & what visiting India used to be like 10 or 15 years ago, when things moved at a slower pace.

The setting of the hotel is beautiful, with the large yellow facade of the hotel surrounded by protective hills. The many gardens are full of bright pink & purple bougainvillea bushes in full bloom. There are several forts overlooking the palace which you can walk up to & from which you can see stunning views over the village & surrounding plains. The hotel is full of nooks & crannies to explore, each with its own different view of the area. There are 2 pools; the smaller rooftop pool has the best setting for hanging out.

We had a very spacious room with a magnificent view over the front gardens, including a large bedroom, sitting area & large bathroom. The bedroom felt cool, with smooth stone floors & small windows with shutters to keep the sun out; the room had plenty of light with the shutters open. The bed was large & comfortable, on the hard side. Our a/c worked fine though it was a bit loud. The bathroom had a great soaking tub with plenty of hot water. You will just have to resign yourself (willingly in our case) to not having any internet access.

The service is friendly but a bit slow & casual. Not a problem if you expect this. The Indian food in the restaurant is really quite good & authentic. The staff really excelled at the decorations for the wedding, wherein the palace was completely transformed into a fairytale wonderland. There isn't much to do at the hotel, so I would suggest to consider it as a convenient base from which to explore the area or as a place to read & relax poolside.

Feeling unwell when we arrived early our room was not ready. However we were immediately taken to another room whilst our room was prepared. Very friendly staff on reception and in the restaurant. Cold drink and cold towels on arrival. Bedroom was huge with a sleeping area and a lounge area, separate dressing area and bathroom all beautifully appointed. Excellent supply of toileteries. We also had a private and a shared terrace. Spotlessly clean. Many steps up to the hotel so be aware if you have mobility problems. Reataurant is expensive but you would expect this from this standard of hotel. Diner for 2 would cost approx. INR2500 + Tax + service. Excellent buffet style breakfast Indian & International options. An excellent place to stay.

An excellent hotel and well worth the detour from Jaipur. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Royal Suite which really did have everything. Most helpful staff, 2 immaculate swimming pools, lovely gardens and courtyards.
We left the hotel twice and were immediately joined by local 'guides'.One showed us around the local village which was very interesting: the metal workshops are almost out of the Middle Ages.Another insisted on accompaning me on the walk up the many steps behing the hotel to the ruined fort above.Although it was shut, we continued on the circular walk finishing up in the valley behind the hotel which gave some great views. These chaps are persistant but friendly and I tend to feel that it is a way of giving a bit back to the locals anyway.A most enjoyable stay
