Mountbatten Lodge
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is an extraordinary place to stay and impressed us enormously despite the fact that we had come directly from the Lake Palace at Udaipur. It is located in a beautiful and peaceful part of Rajasthan. It had only just opened...we were the 5th guest. This is destined to become one of the places to stay in Rajasthan and is great stop for those travelling between Jodphur and Udaipur.
- Only 4 suites in total, accommodation is massive. We had adjoining suites for my family of 5 and it was 46 paces from the end of one suite through to the end of the other! Decor is Raj era and they have absolutely nailed it.
- Incredible showers and one suite had a bath that rivalled Nero's at the Vatican.
- Numerous different areas to relax around the property. Each meal is served in a different area. The bar is like an old club. Evening dining room is awesome with each evening meal served by candlelight.Lunch is served under a Banyan Tree.
- Enough for a 3 night stay. Champagne sunset not to be missed, driven up the hill behind the lodge in ann open jeep for a beautiful view over the mountain range. Jain Temple also worth a visit and the local fort on top of the mountain is fantastic as the sun goes down.
- Food is all inclusive. It is a standard menu, reasonably basic but enjoyable. All food is local except breakfast which is continental.
- Staff are attentive and plenty of them too.
- There are some minor teething problems as it is brand new but nothing that bothered us. They do have to sort out the fireplaces that don't draw the smoke particularly well but that is about all.
- If you are going in Dec/ Jan please note that it gets very cold at night in this area and you need some seriously warm clothes such as thermals. Daytime it is beautiful and warm.
- The area is remote, so if you have any special requirements such as medication or dietary I suggest you organize beforehand.
- There was no mobile phone connectivity in the area, forces you to switch off the blackberry.
