“Small and beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

we visited yercaud on 7th sep 2013. its small hill station . we travelled in our own car from bangalore to yercaud. The climb from salem to yercaud is scenic. Nothing much to see. There are few good view points which gives good view of salem city. If you are travelling in your vehicle then the road trip in ring road is must. many people doesn't know this road even resort guy would advise you not to drive through. But if you miss this drive then you are missing a big thing. its a 32 km ring road which very beautiful and scenic its full of coffee estate. The whole road was covered with flowers.Stay in resort so that you can enjoy the peace and clam environment of yercaud. it is good for relaxing for a day or two.

“Nothing Spectacalor”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

The visit to Yercaud during September 16-17 2013 was just ordinary, though the climb to Yercaud from Salem is scenic the end product is just a hill station, not too cold just okay. the clouds passing through you during the monsoon feels good. the lake was practically empty perhaps it was working day hence the Rush of the visitors were not there.

If you need peace and quite without much to do then for relaxing it seems ok. however there are other choices too.

“Peaceful little hill station”

A quiet quaint little town with few shops and few sightseeing places. Getting to stay in a resort away from town admist greenery will give you the real Yercaud feeling.

“Picturesque Yercaud A Happy Memory!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

I loved my constant trips to Yercaud from Salem. It takes just an hour to travel, through those exciting 20 hairpin bends, that make up the 28 kms to this town in the Shevaroys Hills of the famous Eastern Ghats. The town is located at the hieght of around 4970 feet and the highest point is atop the Servarayan Temple which is about 5330 feet. One winds through many citrus orchards and coffee plantations. It is also dubbed as the 'poor man's Ooty'. It is a very popular hill resort for weekend holidayers from Bangalore and Chennai.

Places to visit includes the boat in the Yercaud lake, the Botanical Garden which houses an Orchidarium, full of rare and beautiful orchids, Telescope at the Lady's Seat that gives a majestic panoramic view of the mountain range and the town below, Silk Farm nearby shows one the various silk worms, Servarayan Temple, the highest point, The Grange, is the oldest building here where Robert Clive is supposed to have stayed, Fairholme Bungalow, currently a heritage hotel, The Bear's Cave, a fabled abode of Lord Muruga, Pagoda Point, a vantage point with pagodas, Heaven's Ledge, a scenic campsite at Gowri Estate 15 kms in the mountains and the Karidiyur View Point 12 kms away looking onto some of the most breathtaking mountain views.

The air is fresh, so are the fruits and the vegetables here. There is a variety of flora and fauna that are waiting to be discovered here. I loved the Montford School premises, it is a marvelous campus. There is a perennial nip in the air that is very refreshing, romantic and envigourating. The temperature never goes above 26 degrees Celcius, even in the peak summers, winters see the mercury dip close to 10 degrees.

A visit here will be remembered for all time.

“Good time @ Yercaud”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

We planned a trip to yercaud with family (since train tickets were available for yercaud alone)on Ramzan We had booked Royal Resorts for our accommodation.
From Salem boarded bus to yercaud , there were 20 hair pin bends totally .Within 1hr 30 mins we reached yercaud from Salem. The resort was walkable from bus stop. Royal resort was economical and Mr.Senthilkumar - Manager Royal resorts helped us a lot throughout our stay in yercaud. We were happy to receive neat and clean rooms within the budget.
Next day we started our sightseeing in Travera.Had our breakfast in Malar restaurant (Food was really good and reasonable price compared to other restaurants).
Our first place was Monte Forte School. The school was really good. But unfortunately we were not able to enter inside as it was a working day. But we had a good photo session with family :)
The climate was simply awesome and we were relieved from hot sun of Chennai and our busy schedules temporarily.
Next we visited Ladies seat, Gents seat and Children seat points. All these three gave a similar feel but we were able to see the beauty of yercaud from those points. Also these places had many petty shops selling fruits, bajji etc.were we had a good time with fruits like star apple, butter fruits and fig. (i really enjoyed these fruits). Then after a long walk we tasted bajji's and tea , which was very tasty and made us comfortable for the climate.
Rose garden was nearby these points but we couldn’t find many varieties.
Evening we planned for Boating, it is normally rush so planned accordingly and got the tickets as it will be closed by 5.30 p.m. Next day visited Anna park and kiliyur falls.Had a good kulfi @ eggitterian.
Boarded bus to Salem on next day. visited Taramangalam - Kailashnath temple.Had very good darshan and was surprised by the way the sculptures were designed.Pathala lingam darshan was good. Whole family chanted sivapuranam together. We then left to Mettur to see the dam.So happy seeing the dam with full water but was disappointed as we were not able to walk on the bridge. But we treated our stomach with ice cream and corn :) Travelled to mettur park, very bad experience as sun was draining all our energy while we walked 1 km to park. Our trip came to end with Mettur park.
Overall we enjoyed this trip thoroughly as we went with whole family :)
