The resort seems to service tour groups stopping for a night or two en route through Rajasthan. It's beautifully setup, with a combination of modern buildings and adobe-style mud huts, arranged around a series of gardens and public areas. The whole place is kept pristine clean and the staff are very helpful. There isn't much to do in Mandawa itself, which is in the middle of scrub desert countryside, but the resort puts on various activities (including horse-riding, massage etc). There is a good pool area and decent snack food is served at the bar; the restaurant is relatively expensive and the meals there are just okay but unless you have your own transport, you're pretty much stuck there. All in all, a very pleasant place to just relax in scenic surrounds for a couple of days.

Room Tip: There's a big difference between the modern-style suites and the rustic charm of the mud-huts bu...

In jan 2013, on our way back from castle mandawa, we wanted to just look around the place as we were already staying at club mahindra. So we went inside the desert resort. The snooty staff wanted to charge us even to enter!
They were not hospitable at all.
We had stayed at the desert resort earlier in 1996. Much has changed since then as far as their " hospitlity" is concerned!
All they want is to make quick money. Very short sighted approach i must say.
Sad.

Mandawa is often the break-journey for a lot of travelers between Jaisalmer/Bikaner & Delhi. We stayed here overnight while in transit. It's a vast property with a rustic feel - iron beds, mud walls etc. The rooms are spacious & interiors very well done. It also has a pool, playing ground (cricket) etc. for recreation. The only flip-side is one is forced to just lay back & relax as there's simply nothing to do!
PS - They charge a bomb for food that's very average (some privileges of being in the middle of nowhere).
There's no explanation for their steep tariffs though!

Stayed here overnight, not in the mud huts but in the 'princess' suite in the main building. Room was gorgeous with wrought iron beds, huge bathroom and even a swing for relaxing a reading.
The Ayurvedic massage wasnt too bad.

Room Tip: The mud huts are unique and interesting but if you want a good suite-like room, the one on the main...

Stayed here two nights. Located on the edge of the town. This hotel had the cleanest and best kept grounds and gardens. The exchange rate was displayed at reception which made a pleasant change from some receptionists thinking they could charge what they liked. Found the staff pleasant and friendly. Again good views over the desert of the sunset. The rooms were individual traditional looking immitatiom mud huts with lots of atmosphere and a large bathroom and shower area. There was no safe and no tv in the rooms. There was a massage area which was okay and the area around the pool was relaxing and calming. Downside to this that you are in the middle of nowhere and prices in restraunt reflect that. This was the most expensive buffet meal and most expensive beer on our tour. The buffet was not particually good the chicken labrador consisting of carcase, neck and bones hardly any meat to be seen. The rest of the vegetarian dishes were uninspiring but there was a rissotto chef cooking to order. Mandawa itself is a short ride away by taxi but believe me there is nothing much there to see. We had a guide who did his very best to make something out of nothing. The town is next to the dessert and ran out of money when caravans stopped over a hundred years ago. I was dissappointed in this part of tour and had expected more. Did have a camel ride around some local villages which was interesting and we did give locals a good laugh getting on and off camel.

Room Tip: all the hut/rooms were excellent the grounds were nipping clean and credit to staff

It felt like Africa but it was in the centre of India. Beautifully laid out each individual 'mud hut' is five star in every way, there are mud huts and Mud Huts and these are top quality. The food is excellent the service top quality and the village close by was a wonderful place to visit directly on the old trade routes.

Room Tip: Every 'hut' is wonderful so no problems which one you get.
