Karad Hills
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Karad cannot be in the wish list for any traveler and it was never in mine too.But there was a medical seminar at Krishna Medical college in the last week of August,so we decided to go to Karad to attend seminar. It is 315 Km by road from Mumbai and journey is little tiring, however, road beyond Pune is also very good barring some patches where road widening works were going on.We reached in 6 hours and found the hotel booked for us is excellent. This was hotel Mahendra,3 km before main Karad town.Conveniently located on highway, this property appears to be very new/recently renovated.Good spacious lawn, very nice well maintained rooms, nice lobby. They have pure veg restaurant and a bar.Later on we found out this was the best hotel in and around town.Karad is actually a sleepy town at the confluence of river Krishna and Koyna and their meeting point is known as Preeti Sangam. This is the only attraction in the town but quite well maintained according to our national standards.Worth a visit. There is Koyna dam situated about 40 km away and is very lovely place to go and spend a couple of hours.Krishna Medical college is very good and our seminar was also nice but one cannot spend more than one day here.So we decided to go to Panchgani next day which is just 40 Km away and had a very good time.Karad is a good halt while going to Bangalore or Kolhapur by road and has relaxing effects after long hours of driving.
