If you are looking for family friendly relatively spacious accommodation than Rafferty's will fit the bill. Our experience of the place is that it had quite a busy feel to it. We were woken early on the Sunday morning by the bins being collected and there was lots of activity type noise during the day. I imagine on a sunny summer's day there could be a bit of boat noise from the lake as well. Saying that there seemed to be lots of family groups having fun - watch out for little ones on skateboards and bikes! A hunt for a more comfortable pillow on night two made for a better nights sleep. The kitchen had what we needed and the living room was more than adequate. I imagine mid week stay would feel a little bit more relaxed. All staff that we encountered were pleasant and I enjoyed a good massage by Andy the massage therapist (I booked this before arriving!).

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has a view into one of the garden areas or that isn't amongst all the other villas.

Rafferty's enjoys a glorious location on the shores of Lake Macquarie. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Loft apartment - No. 31.
Clean and spacious, but could have done with some additional crockery and glassware. This apartment sleeps six - but only 5 dinner plates and very few glasses, lack of dishes as well. Cold outlook for Winter. Its a shame the back courtyard cant be put to better use. Huge smelly garbage bins located in what is potentially a warm little suntrap.

I will go there again but I will be very careful which apartment I rent.

Room Tip: Choose a North east aspect especially in the Winter

Stayed here as part of a conference. Refreshments/meals were really good. Accomodation nothing pretty and certainly a little dated, my bed linen whilst clean included a blanket with holes all over- glad Ididnt need to use it. Lovely setting on the lake but unfortunately not able to walk around because other than the lake in front of hotel the rest is private property. Not surethat I would come back if not with work

Wasn't expecting too much after reading reviews & given we brought a scoopon voucher.
No probs with check in or service during stay- with exception of a hot breakfast charge to the room which was actually paid for on the spot when breakfast was taken.

The 2 bedroom & loft (92)was spacious and clean, furniture was not dated so assume we got better accommodation to the other reviewers?? We were missing a bottle open and reception couldn't get us one nor did the Al Lago restaurant have one onsite?? .
Landed up borrowing one from a nice neighbour sitting on their balcony.
Suppose to be allocated 2 parking spots..always an issue getting into the garage due to the small kerb space- burned my husbands sports tyres
Resort ticked most boxes, main pool was nice though the heated pool near our accommodation 92 was not heated at all??
We booked for 6 adults and landed up having to take our 2 children as weekend carers fell through last minute..thought might be an issue with breakfast that was included with 6 person but no, very easy we only paid $10 for 4yr old and our 2 yr old was free.
Breakfast cost are $24 for hot breakfast, $15 for continental, and $10 for 4-10yrs old ..younger are free.

Positives-
• Location can't be beat
• fantastic pool for kids and dads alike
• lovely grounds
• spacious rooms
Negatives-
• customer service is appalling. I know you can't please all of the people all of the time but well over an hour wait for a take way pizza and the you get hung up on when you have something to say about it is pretty poor. And to the poor German lady who just needed some salt, I apologise for the way Australians seem to view customer service as something they don't need to bother with . I hope you got your salt.
• the toilets near the main pool stank of urine and generally were pretty foul. We walked up to our room whenever we needed to use the bathroom.
• furniture in room is old and dated. Pillows like rocks although bed is comfy enough.
