“A great place to stay”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

This is a late review, I have stayed with friends three times at Kevs Pub and each time had a wonderful time. Try his barbeque, its brilliant, try the Niers schaps, Breakfast is as other reviews say are very good. I would highly recomend Kevs Pub to anyone who wants to explore this part of of Germany and also Holland about ten mins away. Its a flat area so cycling and canoing which Kev is an expert at is great.

Room Tip: The rooms are not in the pub but over the road, Quiet road one way, not a main road,

I was stationed at the nearby RAF LAARBRUCH (now closed)in the 80,s,so when we decided to have a reunion we chose Kevs bar. They were great, well organised, did a BBQ for 112 without breaking a sweat. Kev is ex RAF himself and looked after us well, the only slight down side would be,make sure you go in the summer if you are having a large party as we did.The room in doors was limited, and it wasnt exclusive to us,there were several locals in the sports room watching football on the TV .That made room even more limited. The locals were very friendly, some of the lads watched TV with them and were very welcome,it was a great weekend, but had it rained ,or been cold it would have been a disaster. But it didnt and we loved it,Kev kept the bar open until the wee early hours, many thanks Kev and staff very big well done.

We needed a quick overnight stay as we were flying in late and had an early flight out of the Weeze airport. THe time between flights ALMOST wasn't worth spending money on a hotel, but since the Weeze airport closes at night, we had to find something. Kevin's Pub turned out to be a great place. Wished we had more time to spend there. Kevin was very accomodating with our late night check-in/early morning departure. Made sure we had a good breakfast and had the cab there waiting for us at the appointed time. Thanks Kevin! Hope we can return sometime and enjoy the area, maybe take a canoe ride on the river.

after travelling for a few hours on a motorbike, kevin was very welcoming, even giving us a drink on the house as we'd travelled a long way that day! kevin knows a lot about the local and surrounding areas, and can suggest places to visit. he has various options of accomodation, from single, double and triple rooms, to camping, to a night in the hay! breakfast is made at a time when you want it, just let them know! best pub we've been too, and we went in quite a few on our roadtrip! everyone is so welcoming, and we even got to have a bbq with weeze's major! random but true!!! beds are comfy, we had a triple room which is en-suite, however, if you are upstairs it's a communal bathroom. the guesthouse is across the road from the pub itself, which is good if you want an early night! only about 20 metres so not far to wobble after a few bevvies! overall, would definately be returning sometime soon!

Room Tip: double rooms use a communal bathroom, the triple has an en-suite but costs more.

Please note, we didn't stay the night here but came for breakfast and to hire the canoes. What we saw of the facilities and the hay-hotel impressed us that we would recommend it too.

Thanks to Kevin himself, we were able to plan a day trip from England to visit Weeze and paddle on the Niers river thanks to the 1p air fares that are sometimes available from London by Ryanair.

Kevin went out of his way (on a Tuesday, his usual day off too) to make sure we could do this, coming to the airport at the last minute to meet our plane when the taxi didn't arrive.

We got to Kevin's place (a five minute journey from the airport) to be greeted by a warm welcome from his family and a full-on traditional German breakfast of fresh rolls, meats, jams and boiled eggs, all done to perfection. Kevin then talked us through what sort of canoes we'd like to use, how far we wanted to paddle and suggested a route for us. He then drove us to a place upstream and helped us into the water. We paddled for the day, stopping to visit the town of Kevelaer for lunch. We had planned to carry on to reach the dock at Kevin's place in Weeze but we got behind schedule. Without a moment's complaint, Kevin came out and picked us up and took us to the airport so we could catch our flight home in time. The cost of the two airport transfers, portage to the launch and collection, hire of 2 three-seater canoes and a full breakfast was only 120 euros. For an utterly memorable day out, that is unbeatable.

We arrived near to midnight but were greeted in the pub by the owner who was friendly and very fast getting us sorted. The rooms are in another building across the road and are a very good size, they were also clean, warm and very comfortable. Breakfast was boiled egg, rolls, meat and cheese plate, jams, butters, juice and tea or coffee, all served in the pub. All in all a lovely place.
