Outstanding!! We stayed for 4 nights in the beech premier lodge. It was slightly different from the photos when we booked through hoseasons but wow! The lodge was absolutely stunning, we lived in complete luxury! The customer service on site was excellent. We arrived at 3:30pm for check in on Monday at 4pm however our lodge wasn't ready until around 4:30pm however the staff put on free drinks at the bar in the boat inn for us while we waited. The lodge was spotless and received a phone call at our lodge telephone the next morning to make sure we had a good first night. Staff were very friendly in the 24hr reception, got free eggs for breakfast one morning too! Hot tub cleaned early every morning at the same time ready for use that day. We had dinner at the boat inn with our 2 kids which was lovely, staff great with the kids and food was great. Missing a bit of entertainment at night for the young kids though. Something to entertain the kids while the parents chill at the bar would have made the boat inn top notch. We did breakfast at The Hide which again was lovely but a little pricey for breakfast. The bird of prey centre on site is fantastic as is the gruffalo trail at Kielder castle, the app is excellent and kids thoroughly enjoyed it! On leaving at check out on Friday, the manager spoke to us and gave us a free gift when leaving and bottled water for the journey home. Overall we couldn't fault one thing. Stunning lodge and location! See you again xx

What can I say?.......fantastic holiday was had by all, so good I booked for next year while I was there. On arrival we were offered a glass of prosecco which was a nice touch. Stayed in Hareshaw Surperior with Hot Tub and had amazing views of the water. Cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Only thing missing was our heated towel rail in the en-suite but we had a washer/dryer so could pop towels in to dry. All staff were amazing but big shout out to Ryan, Becky and Tom. My Son done a few activities which I booked before we went, he done Archery and Sea Scooters (which were fab) Crazy Carts were cancelled due to the rain but i was given a refund. Tom is great with the kids. Food in the Boat Inn was fantastic, Burger and Chips was one of the best burgers I had, Hubby had the Fish, Chips and Mussy Peas and he said it tasted fantastic. The Boat Inn is great just to sit have a drink and if the weather is good, sit outside and enjoy the view. I had a massage and facial with Nichola which was such good value for money, I also booked this before I went. Friends came down to visit us for the day and they liked it so much, we booked to all go together next year, Our cabin has a birds nest and everyday we watched the 5 chicks get more and more brave to leave. ONE THING there is a lot of midges but the cabins are surrounded by trees, take citronella candles to use on your patio.
I always love a special touch and in the cabin was a glass jar which contained cookie mix, little sign on it said"In case of rain, just add butter and eggs to make cookies, our gift to you" there was also a pint of milk in the fridge. On check out day we were given a complimentary bottle of water, coffee and a tin of sweets, again a lovely touch
At Kielder you can do as much or as little as you like, its the first place I have re booked for the following year while I was staying there. 5 Stars

The Kielder Water and Forest Park area lies near the borders of England and Scotland and is relatively quiet. The scenery is beautifully green in contrast with the blue of the waters on a sunny day, or grey when it is cloudy.

Visited the castle visitor centre for some family cycling on Osprey Blue MTB trail.
Did not take insect repellent and immediately regretted it as soon as we got out of car. We were eaten alive if we stopped moving, anywere in the forest park. Made tending to our 9 month old on the trails very difficult. Weather was calm 13deg, cloudy with the odd patch of drizzle. Worst midges I've experienced in any forest in N England or Scotland.
Aside from that the trail was well maintained and a good next step for proficient cyclists to try their hand at MTBing. The return leg runs along the lake shore past the sculptures such as the big head and the janus seats.
The forest centre itself has the usual amenities and the bike shop is there too. Cafe is a little cramped and antiquated but served decent range of food and had the webcam feed for osprey nests there.
Vast range of trails for walking and cycling on offer and recommend a visit, just bring midge repellent!

Stunning views varied landscapes
But not the best sign posting on walks
£5 for all day carparking (2017) that means your car can be in any car park in the national park
