we stayed here in march 2012 . booked late and got a great price . cannot fault the lodge the master bedroom was lovely, plenty of space. there was also a double room perfect for storingour luggage. kitchen had all the ammenties you could need and the lounge was just so cosy and homley feeling. all in all cannot fault the lodge . picturesque you could often see bunnys running by the windows . there was also an adventure area for children, and a small petting zoo . also as the park is on a man made lake there is plenty to see and do . we went for walks every day. thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . would love to go back

We stayed at Kielder lodges having picked up an autumn deal and were thoroughly impressed.
We booked a 2 bedroom lodge, 1 for my wife and I and one for our baby. We took our own travel cot which fitted in although there were travel cots available for a small fee if required. The lodge was very clean and had all the things you would expect in good working order.
The setting is very quiet and peaceful with plenty of birds, rabbits and the occasional red squirrel around. The park very clean with a small shop stocking essentials food supplies, gifts etc. The pool is pleasant although the changing rooms were very cold to have a baby in. We ate in the pub and had a few drinks which was nice overlooking the lake.
The ferry to the visitor centre and trip around the lake is also well worth the time and money.
If you would like a peaceful place to stay with easy access to hours of walks, cycling, nature, history then this is the holiday for you.

We stayed here in April 2012, a very cold time of the year to go but it was our first holiday as a family with our little boy. The log cabins were excellent, 2 bedroom and all the amenities you could ever need. The heating in the cabin was excellent and needed! The shop and swimming pool were excellent. The restaurant was also very nice with great views of the surrounding area. The shop was also very good value and had the couple of things that we had forgotten. We were also next to a cabin containing a pool table etc which was nice to pop into for a game.

The surrounding area is excellent with numeroud walks and things to see. Kielder Column wasnt exciting as we pictured ha ha but everything is worth walking too.

Would definately holiday here again!

This is a remote scenic location with limited amenities and, as such, prompted our reserving one of the more expensive lodges.
A degree of disappointment occurred in that the kitchen area, whilst fully equipped, could really do with an upgrade which, together with the dining area, felt more than a little downmarket. That said, expectations were more than satisfied on moving through to the lounge area, bedrooms and bathroom, all of which carried a greater feel of luxury to them.
Externally, the timbers needed attention with flaking of the stain/preservative and a rotten/broken slat to the veranda diluting perceptions here.
Overall, the impression was favourable, but it was a shame that positive opinion could not be said of the whole of the property for the reasons outlined, and the expectation levels arising from the price.
As to Kielder Water, the well signposted lakeside trail is excellent for cycling (25 miles circular route) and the food at the on site Inn was very good indeed.
In summary, plenty pluses here that would see our considering a return visit.

We thought this would be an ideal holiday for 2 active boys aged 11 and 12 but were very disappointed. Although the bike paths were good the surrounding roads were too busy to cycle comfortably on. Our kids enjoy road cycling so options were very limited, may be more available for mountain bikes although the mountain bike skill courses advertised in the brochure were cancelled during the 2 weeks we were there (August). The Water Ski School was excellent and our boys enjoyed developing this skill but apart from taster sessions in kayaking there were no other water based activities on offer. One of my son's said - "All this water and nothing to do on it". The swimming pool was small and only opened from 9am to 6pm and you were only able to get in if you had booked a slot in advance - not conducive for a spontaneous holiday. The holiday would have been so much better if swimming had been allowed on the lake or if kayaks or wind surfers had been available for hire. Accommodation was fine - basic, we stayed in the Hadrian, but clean and comfortable. May be an ideal quiet retreat for younger families or couples but in our experience not suited to active older kids.

The first impression is with my nose, open the door and smell, time and time again to go somewhere and the smell of damp or the previous occupants fried breakfast but this smelt fresh and clean.
We stayed in No1 which we paid a little more for but this was a break without kids and without the thought of work so the extra was justified, it had everything you could want cooker, fridge freezer and even a dishwasher. There were only 4 tv channels and no mobile phone service so piece and quiet is total, there's a pay phone in the lodge but when your on holiday who do you want to call.
The staff on site are friendly and helpful and any problems are instantly fixed. My wife says that its the best bed she'd ever slept on. The view of the water on a morning while having breakfast is fantastic the only negative is that there are quit a lot of midge's and when I say a lot there's lots and lots this is only because of the time of year but plenty of repellant usually does the trick.

Not the first visit and hopefully not the last. As usual a high standard of accomodation, log cabin 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms all you could possibly want in the kitchen, from dishwasher (not me for a change) to microwave, toaster etc. But you really cant get better than whats on your door step, beautiful views, quiet walks along side the reservoir and several places to keep the kids entertained, Then to sit down relax with a glass of wine and hear nothing but the owls (from the bird of prey centre on site) hooting into the night! not that they disturb you, just remind you of how quiet it really is. Plus if you are a star gazer no better place to see the thousands of stars that appear in the clear night sky, really is wonderful.

Room Tip: All the cabins are fantatstic, views from all.
