We rented a 2 bedroom bahauni suite for our family which includes boys (ages 14 and 12). This suite is perfect. The boys usually refuse to sleep in the same room and this suite has a spare bed in the lounge room. The bathrooms are generous, have tile floors and granite counters. The beds are comfy and there is plenty of air conditioning and fans to keep you cool. The resort is directly on the beach which is quite and has a jellyfish net enclosure. The suite is in the gardens and there is lovely foliage and interesting animals. I saw a wallaby on our veranda this am! Lastly this resort is small (only 90 guests at a time) so everyone is very friendly and gets to know you quickly.

Room Tip: The bahauni suites are great for a family

My wife and I stayed here for one night during our week long visit to Cairns and we had differing opinions about the place. I thought the grounds of this hotel were beautiful and lush. My wife thought it was like living in a swamp. I thought the cottage was quaint. My wife said it reminded her of camp. But we both agreed that the beach and pool were beautiful and the staff very friendly and helpful.
A few notes if you do stay here-
The accomodations are in bungalows that are fairly spread out. So some walking is required to get to and from your room.
The restaurant is pricey and there is no food nearby. So if you don't have a car a restaurant called A Taste of Italy delivers there for a $5 charge and their food and pizza is great. There is also a bus that can get you to Cairns and each room has a refridgerator, so you can stock it with drinks and food.
The in-room wifi is awesome, because each room has its own router. Best connectivity we had in Australia.
So we would definitely go back and this is defitiely the place to go if you want to unwind for a few days as it feels like a jungle paradise.

Room Tip: Some rooms require a long walk, so ask for a closeby cabin if you have any difficulty walking.

Kewarra is somewhat unique with its rain forest/jungle setting. Our bungalow was a walk from the main lodge area and very surrounded by foliage with a wallaby or two hanging about. The setting is really spectacular.
It is important, if you want to venture out from the property, you will need your own transportation. The restaurant was very, very good and the service in the restaurant was generally above the "relaxed" Australian standards.
The bungalow was roomy with a safe, small closet, tub and shower. We were very happy and the staff was helpful at all times.
Our arrival, during a heavy downpour from Cyclone Oswald was well handled with umbrellas and an escort to our bungalow. You are in the rainforest!!! The beach is very nice.
On departure my wife thought she had left a couple of items (later found in a secret compartment in her luggage.) The manager thoroughly followed up on our email to him. Many thanks. WE have no complaints whatsoever with our really delightful visit.

This was our favorite hotel as we undertook a tour of Australia with a top rated tour company. Kewarra Beach Resort is so different from the usual resort hotel that it was a refreshing change. Individual cabins nestled in the forest made for an enchanting experience. (Finding your way home in the dark after dinner was a bit of a challenge, but all part of the fun). In our three nights there we had three different dining experiences and they were all delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and we wished we could have stayed longer.

I will list this review mostly in terms of pros and cons. All, I found, in australia people are friendly and of course they are too at this resort.

So Pros, wifi everywhere, even in your room and because this is a large resort that is a plus. Complimentary iPads for use in the lobby, resort is on a beach, complimentary yoga (good yoga too), laundry facilities (big plus, especially if you have been traveling for a while), great service, big room, transfer to the hotel included in the stay.

Cons, need a car-far from Palm cove which is a 45 min fast walk up the beach once you go over an inlet that is only passable at low tide. If you don't really need the resort (which in our case was only partially open due to the "wet" season then you might consider positioning yourself in palm cove itself where there are many different restaurants to choose from. Kewerra only has one restuarant., very dark rooms, hard bed and pillows (in fact, my husband said laying out on the pavement might be just as comfortable.) no storage in the rooms (for the size of the room there is very limited storage. No knowledgeable concierge on duty. In fact, when we inquired about the great barrier reef we were handed a bunch of brochures and that was about it. Could of used some local intelligence about restaurants etc. I suppose kewerrra's feeling is why go anywhere else?

Overall I was not as thrilled with staying here as so many other writers have claimed. But that is just one opinion. It was not bad, it just was not amazing either.

Room Tip: If you do not want a total rainforest experience, then perhaps chose a room by the beach.
