Echoing what many other reviewers have said this is a lovely, comfortable hotel run by the helpful and knowledgeable Jason and his friendly wife and in laws. Within an hour of my first e mail Jason had confirmed a room and orgamised transport for us from Guilin. As everybody notes his English is excellent. We were met from the bus and taken to the hotel, a 5 minute walk uphill. The views from our 'panorama room' were fantastic. We did the walk between Ping'an and Dazhai (guided by Jason's mother in law) which was interesting and scenic. Over 2 nights we ate a total of 7 dishes in the hotel and all were tasty. Highly recommended for a stay in this area.

We only popped in for lunch and the local food was absolutely brilliant. The owner was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to ensure great service and provided information on the area. Great views and a superb location. Will visit again one day.

We stayed for one night in Baike Hotel during Chinese national holiday. The owner of Baike is very nice and speaks english fluently. Rooms are large and clean and the panoramic rooms offer stunning views. Food in the villages at Longji in general is very good and the food at the hotel is no exception. Be sure to try the fantastic bamboo rice. If you like milk with your coffee in the morning, bring your own. I would definitely book this hotel again.

Room Tip: choose a panorama room.

We stayed there for 2 nights and it was a great experience! The hotel is pretty new and is located 5 minutes walk from Ping'An Village entrance. The hotel is family-runned and they are all great! The owner of the hotel is very helpful, he booked the bus for us to get to the village and then come to pick up us at the entrance. His wife is really nice and the food her father prepares is fantastic! From the hotel terrace you can have a spectacular view of the terraces, a very relaxing place, and it was great to have breakfast and dinners over there staring at that fantastic landscape! The rooms are quite big and very clean and fully equipped with TV and free wifi. It is really a great place to stay!!

Thank you to all the previous reviewers of the Baike Hotel. Based on your reviews we chose to stay here and it was an excellent decision indeed. We spent two nights at the Baike Hotel and our time in this region was the highlight of our 14 day trip to China.
A few observations:
-Jason arranged pick up from the airport (500rmb) it is a long 2 hour ride. He also arranged transfer to Yangshuo (700rmb) 3+ hour ride. The pick up and transfer went perfectly smoothly.
-Cash only no ATMS in the area. They do not take credit cards.
-The hotel is small, only 5 guest rooms. Go for the panoramic rooms if they are available, the views are amazing. They are on the second and third floors, no elevators. Reliable internet in rooms.
-Food in the hotel is delicious. Make sure to try the bamboo rice, a local specialty.
-The guided hike is not to missed BUT it is long (10 miles) and quite strenuous. Lots of ups and downs. We are a moderately fit mid-fifties couple and we were whipped by the end of the day. It was very hot (almost 90F) and I'm sure that contributed to our exhaustion. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so strenuous or long. Bring lots of water and good hiking shoes. There may be easier hikes available, we went for the big one.
-The convenience of driving up to the hotel instead of climbing up to a village with porters is not to be underestimated. We enjoyed walking around the village but didn't see that there would be any advantage to staying up there. There are shops and restaurants all the way up the road from the hotel to the village (about a 10-15 minute walk) so it is not exactly isolated.
-Jason and family are lovely hosts and run a great business. It was a privilege to experience this beautiful area.

Great views, great food, and great host family! Baike is only a short 5 minute walk from the entrance to Ping An. You can head up the slope without a porter, unless you severely over packed or just want to hire a cute old lady to bring your bag up in her basket for about 40 yuan!
Lovely building with a fabulous outside 'deck" for viewing the terraces and sipping some of Jason's homemade plum wines. Our room was nice with another amazing view of the terraces. The decorations were simple and perfect for the location and traditional wooden structure of the building. (which Jason assured us with really solid cement clad in traditional wood to fit in)
The meals were fresh and delicious with a great local flair. You must try the bacon and bamboo shoots and the bamboo steamed rice, so so tasty! We loved the casual and warm feel of Baike. Jason was the perfect host and his excellent English was appreciated after a week traveling in the country. he also gave us great travel advise for the next portion of our trip.
We would recommend this hotel to everyone and would stay with jason again when we return.
