“A Colorful Village With Brightly Dressed People.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2014

The village was so attractive with the unique looking black roofed houses. Occasionally, we saw minority women in their bright clothes carrying baskets of fresh produce. There were people who carried tourists in their makeshift carriers. There were many souvenir vendors along the way. Some women sat by the road doing some embroidery. This was an interesting village.

“Must visit super scenic place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

Pingan village is a amazing retreat for a half day tour when in Guilin. You can view the stunning landscape of the valley from the starting point. Once you start from the base the climb is not too much and not steep. Its starts with a market place full of traditional Chinese hand crafts. One can see the hard work put by people in these lovely crafts (must buy as memoirs). There are many eateries on the way up and few cozy western style cafes too .The village has old style houses(maybe one century behind from ultra-modern Shanghai) .People have innocence ,are genuine ,hardworking and offer heartwarming hospitality .One would empathize the life style they follow still and their simplicity. After you cross you the village and climb further uphill you will see the beautiful rice terraces of Pingan and Zhuang villages. The fields are well laid out and looks very organized. Walk around the fields and admire the beauty of the place for 30-45 minutes. There are many trails you can follow and few places where you can stop, rest and take nice shots of the hills and the stunning valley. There are few guest houses and hostels in the villages.

“Unique Village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

Unique village with lots to do and shop. It is really growing with lots of new restaurants and bars popping up. But you can still hike to the next village which is much older and more quite.

“Charming village, but not so sleepy anymore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014

Ping'an village was once sleepy and charming. You can still see the charming side, as we did when we visited, just wander down any of the old alleyways, and watch the local craftsmen working their trade. However, the sleepy side is long gone, with development having arrived in a big way. Construction projects seem to have popped up all over the place, and in time, ping'an will be just another modern city.

Best get in to visit before that happens!

“nice, but touristy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

Not very much to do in the village after you have walked through and seen all the timber buildings and allyways, but still something that you must do. Lots of vendors trying to lighten your wallet with "home made" goods, all of which they buy and are made in factories. Remember to negotiate hard.
