“Excellent place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

Unfortunately I only stayed in this place for one night. It is an excellent hotel (calling it a "resort" is slightly exaggerated) with great views over the rice terraces from the balcony.
Room design makes you feel very comfy, as it uses mostly natural materials - lots of wood, bamboo, and stones. It provides a very peaceful atmosphere and makes you feel relaxed right away. Sorry to hear about the cockroaches from the other reviewer below, our room was spotlessly clean. Maybe they improved something right after it?
Only downside is that there are a couple of places being (re-)built in the vicinity, so you get some noise during the day and it spoils a bit the view onto this otherwise picturesque little village.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms facing the rice terraces, rooms to the back have zero view and are damp and dar...

We stayed here in early August as a family of 6 with teenage daughters. This is off the beaten track in a mountain village set in an area of rice field terraces. Although Chinese mass tourism has discovered it in the mean time, the area is still worthwhile visiting. But leave Ping An itself and go for an early morning hike in the rice fields. Breathtaking beauty and serenity. The further away from Ping An itself, the more friendly the people are.
The word resort is slightly exaggerated for the Star Wish Resort. It is more like well outfitted mountain cabin with some luxury. Staff was quite friendly. We had an excellent dinner with local specialties, but breakfast was a disappointment. When we were there, there was quite some construction noise next door which continued throughout the night. Not very convenient, if one is hoping for a good night af sleep after a long day of hiking.
The biggest drawback of this place, is a regular sewage smell. Maybe it is caused by the construction but it was quite bad. This, in combination with garbage around the hotel and bathrooms which were not very clean, did not give an impression of high hygienic standards. Solving the hygiene problem, would make this hotel a recommendation.

I was booked in to here for 2 nights, but checked out after 1. The first 'bad' thing to happen was the guy on reception trying to trip me off for a beer for 20 yuan when they are actually 10. When I asked later, I got my 10 back. Then my room, 507 had a cockroach problem. I came back from dinner to find I had a number of unwelcome guests in my room. I managed to get the one I. The bathroom but the rest got away. After no sleep, I went to breakfast to find there was no coffee/tea or breakfast as they said the hotel was to quiet so they weren't doing any fresh. They offered to make me a fried egg, which I accepted. I then watched the chef cook the egg though the open kitchen door with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. I think this hotel has been lovely and can be lovely again but they've got to work on their hygiene standards. I moved out after one night and checked into Li -an lodge almost next door. Could not be more different, stunning and spotlessly clean,

Room Tip: Don't stay in 507

Stayed one night in a twin bed room, my wife and I with our adult son, accommodations were clean, cozy and simple, yet nice. Beds are a mat on a platform, not a full mattress, yet comfortable for us. Fantastic view of the rice fields. The village is a quiet, country place, no auto traffic. Prepare for a one mile(?) hike up the hill to the village, take as little as possible, this is a time for ultra-light packing. Have a good meal in the hotel, or a couple good alternatives close by.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view, that's why you're there!

This place has character. The atmosphere is more like that of a private home than a hotel. We liked the use of local materials in the room decoration, for example, split cane panelling. There were extra touches that made us feel very welcome, for example, there were wooden slip on shoes for wearing inside. The room was heated by a heat pump. This proved invaluable since we had damp clothing to dry. Our room opened onto a tiny balcony equipped with two chairs. This was a wonderful place from which to watch the local world go by. We found the beds hard but were to find this was the normal throughout China and since we had climbed along way over 17.5km we slept anyway.
The breakfasts were basic but perfectly acceptable - omelettes and toast plus coffee. The foyer shop sold nice things like Dove chocolate if you needed to top up between meals.

Room Tip: Go for the view.

Our family of four stayed in this little hotel at the end of March, 2012. We had two rooms with twin beds in each. We had one room with a gorgeous view of the terraces, and the other room with no view and a horse living beneath who occasionally whinnied in the night, LOL. Request a room with a view! We paid the older ladies to carry our bags up, which they very happily did for the income (about $10 for a basketful, round trip!), and I was glad that we did, even though we are reasonably fit, it was nice to climb up the steps without anything heavy, and just enjoy! If you're debating whether to stay a night here in Longji, or just come for a few hours on a tour...STAY it is fabulous. We enjoyed our walk in the hillside very much. A cup of tea sitting on the balcony in the morning overlooking the hills was breathtaking. Bring earplugs...roosters crow all over town all day and night. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Definitely request a view

A small hillside hotel, clean, with personality and a white cat in residence. After a series of faceless 4 star big city hotels, this place was a delight. Yes, the beds are hard, but after a day of hiking the rice paddies, you won't have trouble sleeping.
