We stayed for a week very close to Marina Pirata in Pos Chiquito and went to the place twice to enjoy sunset and great food and drinks. It is very peaceful there. It is located of the beaten pass and feel very genuine with owner Bibi sitting on a deck looking like an older Captain, with parrots in a cage and fishes swimming around the light under the deck, with nice and very friendly service from barmen, cook and waitresses. It feels also very relaxed. When sun sets it is nice to sit at the bar with good Cosmopolitan and talk with the locals... By talking with local guys we ordered recommended by them (but off the menu) dish which we will not soon forget... We call it "Giovanni special" by the name of the guy who recommended it. It was huge seafood plate with included fried red snapper, calamari, lobster tails, shrimps - all in oyster sauce. Everything was just out of the sea and absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed it despite steep price. But you don't have to spend much to eat here; we just could not resist this dish. Next time we just came to see a sunset and for last night goodbye drinks and was welcomed by owner and barmen again who brought complimentary local snack. Experience which worse your evening or few in Aruba...

Great service adorable place right on a pier off a side road. Fresh fresh fish. Difficult to find bit worth the effort

This is a place you don't read a lot about because it is not on the beaten tourist path. Most of the restaurants your read/hear about are no more than 10-15 minutes from the high rises and equidistant from downtown. This is past downtown and past the airport, so it is frequented more by locals and regular visitors to the island. The distance (25 minutes) also makes it the only expensive taxi ride we had to take from the high-rise area ($30 each way, compared to about $8 for every other restaurant we dined at).

It is worth the taxi fare and the time are well worth it. We dined literally at the end of a pier. We had a wonderful view of the sunset and then were treated to scores of fish right below our table. It was a beautiful sight and our kids loved feeding the fish while we ate.

Besides the view, everything else about this place was amazing. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world. It may have been our best meal on the island.

The setting over the water is really nice in the evening. They have lights that shine onto the water and you can see the fish schooling about if you get a seat along the edge. Service was prompt without being intrusive and drinks were very good. Food was good, but not really exceptional. For the price, I thought there could have been a few more garlic shrimp since they were on the small side. I would give them a second shot.

marina pirata is not really hard to find after the first time you go. but getting directions in aruba can sometimes be a challenge. although the folks are friendly and helpful, "not far" or "right down the road" can mean after twelve turns, and such. make sure you have fully understandable directions as it is just a little out of the way, and the local maps are not the easiest. gps would be great. once you get there, you have one set of about 15 steps down, to the main restaurant. doesn't look like much til you get down the steps, then, way cool. right on the water, outside at the edge. when it gets dark, the lights are on in the water, and you can see all kinds of fish swimming, while the owner playfully tosses food to them. sunset is a great time to take a few photos there. the food is consistently good, and is not not incredibly expensive, but priced fair. the appetizers are outstanding, and the entrees have all been very good so far. there are fancier restaurants in aruba, but this is a nice choice any time.
