“Kiting Hub for Boca Grandi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

This hotel is a GEM! It truly is an oasis that must been seen to believe what Arias and his wife have done to this place. It's not only a great hotel, but it's also the only kiting hub for kitesurfing beach Boca Grandi. Hands down the best wind and conditions on the island, and one of the best in the Caribbean. So, the story, as everyone seems to have one after spending just a few minutes with Arias.

I met Arias down on the beach after I blew a massive hole in my kite. He quickly came by, checked out the damage, and here is this stranger generously offering to assist in the repair. We followed him back to his hotel, and upon arrival it was apparent this hotel was built with heart. He gave us a "proud" tour of the product of his work, and then we sat and chatted over pizza and lemonade compliments of the house. The kite ended up being un-repairable, but that didn't matter. Arias had a solution with plenty of extra kite gear and I was able to get back on the water and finish an epic trip.

See you next year, Arias.

My only regret is not staying longer. If your looking for a relaxing atmosphere and catered to your every need, this is the place. Arias has the inside scope to all the best local hangouts, locations for sun, exploring, beach, scuba, kite surfing, etc. Gabriel,s cooking is amazing. If you want to get away from the big resorts, and enjoy some true Island atmosphere, this is the place.

Club Arias B & B is a lovely oasis away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Oranjestad with its many cruise ships docking, and also away from the resort area. Since it is small, it is not crowded, which is a big plus for me. The B & B itself is clean, comfortable, well appointed. We stayed in Suite 1, which consisted of a sitting room, bedroom and bath. The bed was REALLY comfortable. The owners, Arias and Florry were gracious and helpful, providing restaurant recommendations (all excellent), directions and all the extra equipment for fun on the beaches. We rented a car from Arias, and went to Baby Beach several times, nearby for us, and Eagle Beach, also wonderful. All in all, I can highly recommend Club Arias!

Room Tip: Suite 1 was very nice!

My husband and I did not know what to expect, as we usually prefer hotels to B&Bs. However, when we had limited options when booking a last minute vacation, and we saw the positive reviews, we booked a room at Club Arias for a long weekend - and we are SO glad we did. First, Arias (one of the owners) actually called my husband prior to our arrival to see what he could do or what he could have waiting for us to make our stay more pleasant - unbelievable customer service. Second, on the second morning when got up & discovered our car had a dead battery, he saved the day (and helped us make our scuba outing) by loaning us a vehicle. Third, Arias and his wife were extremely helpful in making recommendations for the rest of our stay (which scuba provider to use, local restaurants, kitesurfing lessons, etc.)

Beyond the very personal, above-the-call-of-duty customer service, the hotel was lovely. It is true that it's off the beaten bath - it's in Savaneta, which is on the "locals" side of the island, away from the major hotels. But we really enjoyed that, as the beaches were beautiful and empty, and it was only a ten minute drive from the airport and a five minute drive to some of Aruba's best restaurants (Flying Fishbone, Old Man and the Sea, etc.). Also, the rooms were fabulous - our room was very affordable and a true suite, with a sitting area and a spacious bedroom. The bed was comfortable and everything was immaculate. Complimentary breakfast is made to order (!) and there are fresh pastries each afternoon.

Some may say the hotel isn't quite as pristine as a luxury hotel, and this is true in some regards, but there are personal touches that more than make up for that. This is a very special, family-run establishment that offers you all the comforts of a hotel and then some. We would absolutely recommend it and stay again.

In agreement with most of the reviews on this site, we found our stay at Club Arias to be relaxing and beautiful!

In response to some of the negative views, it is true that Club Arias is not a high rise resort -- and Arias does not advertise himself that way. We loved being in Savaneta because we felt that we were truly seeing and experiencing Aruba, whereas the resort side of the island offers an American experience with blue water.

My husband and I loved the privacy of Club Arias. Even in the busy season, we often felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are only 10 suites at the bed and breakfast (including the owners'), but it is nicely spread out over a few pools and several sitting areas, which left us feeling comfortable and at home whenever we were in the resort.

We absolutely loved our room. The bed was very comfortable and we loved having a dresser with several drawers and a closet with several hangers that didn't make us live out of our suitcases. We were also impressed with the kitchenette area as we made all of our lunches at Club Arias - it felt like Arias had thought of everything: knife set, toaster oven, dishes, silverware, etc. My husband and I really felt as though Flory and Arias (the owners) had put themselves in the guest's shoes as they designed the experience - they offered snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers which made our packing lighter and our travel to the beach each day so enjoyable!

After a bad experience with the car rental companies at the airport, we loved the hassle-free car rental we received from Club Arias. We paid the money and they gave us the keys, and it was that simple.

We would also highly recommend the ATV tour that is a day packed with beauty. Expect a long trip - time is not of the essence, but it is very worth it to soak in the views of Aruba.

We truly loved our stay at Club Arias. The resort was not perfect (for a few reasons mentioned in other reviews), but we came in expecting a bed and breakfast experience on an island, and we were very pleased!

We did the 6 hour ATV trip (which is more like 7- 8 hours total) through Club Arias and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Tess was great, personable and successfully led us through some rough terrain. Arias made sure to tell us to bring plenty of snacks, Mimosas and Rum drinks which turned out to be very useful. Absolutely loved swimming in the hidden natural pool. Topped it off with kite-surfing lessons at the end! Thanks for a great adventure! ~ Erika and Matt from Minnesota

This was our second time out with Sunrise Tours and Club Arias! We started our day yes with a 5:30 AM pick up and returned at 4:30 PM . Our ATV tour included watching the sunrise, Natural pool with just the 8 of us (fantastic), bat caves, bar stop and beautiful beach with snacks, drinks we brought, and demo on kite surfing. The sunshine, conversation and whole day was fantastic! We went back to Club Arias for pizza/wings and pool time. What a wonderful day we all had and we can not say enough about how accommodating they all were! We will be back with the kids again later in 2014!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to our Club Arias Bed & Breakfast. My name is Arias Schwarz and own a bed and breakfast in Savaneta, Aruba with my wife, Flory. We first discovered the enchanting island of Aruba 20 years ago, and we were so taken with the island that we made it our annual vacation destination. On one vacation, we ventured to the southern part of the island and found Savaneta. Within Savaneta we found many treasured jewels, which included the culture and real beauty of Aruba. The beaches on the resort side paled in comparison to the beaches we found in Savaneta. The cuisine was mouth watering, welcoming and very affordable. And the people bore the true heart of the island. Savaneta was such a positive experience for both of us that we were inspired to create Club Arias Bed & Breakfast to share our new world. We want our guests to know all of the island's beauty and take in all of its charm, and we always strive to make it as affordable as possible. Our mission is to give our visitors a personable vacation that cannot be obtained from the typical hotel resorts. Our haven is a family run business. Our two daughters have a real passion for our business, and you will see them from time-to-time greeting our guests upon arrival or wishing them well upon departure. When you visit us, we want you to feel like you are part of our family and we hope to engage you with our love for this island and our love for its people. ... more   less
