This is not just any pub but a whole warm fuzzy experience. Even as total strangers we were greeted as we entered the door and Colette and David immediately made us part of the family. I beautiful wood beamed pub it has loads of atmosphere.
The food was excellent and the beer washed it down very nicely.
We had intended staying in the village for only one night but there was live music in the pub the following evening and we are so glad we stayed. In fact we stayed three nights in all, and each evening the Barley Mow was our main attraction.

Colette and David do an excellent job to make you welcome, always with a smile, and we get the feeling that if we walk in a year from now they will still know our names.
We will be back !!!

This little pub is like no other. Having lived in Bonsall for 15 years, the Barley Mow is at the very heart of village life here. But this is no ordinary village either!! Its quirky, creative, fun, with stunning scenery. The Barley Mow takes this into consideration, and feeds us with incredible live music, fabulous parties, film nights, hen racing events.. the list is endless. I have seen a one man Rocky Horror show here, wept at an American Blues singer's soulful music, been interviewed for the BBC when the Bonsall 'Space ship' landed in a farmer's field, was seen on Sky Sports with my racing hen, got 'married by 'Father Ted' in the car park. Such fun, fun times. And at the end of a busy week, the famous Mow Sunday lunch is still the finest. I encourage all like minded people to visit!

The Barley Mow in Bonsall is one of the main reasons we decided to move to Bonsall, we we're already regulars; the combination of great beer, atmosphere, people, food & music make the Barley Mow a must visit for anyone no matter where they are from.

We were staying at a campsite near Matlock and visiting friends there and they took us on a remote run out in the car to this pub they loved and they wanted to share it with us. The pub being The Barlow Mow in Bonsall was well worth the interesting drive from Matlock. The atmosphere was excellent and so was the food. Later a few folk took to playing their instruments and singing and even the landlady and barman (sorry if I got your titles wrong!) did a little number too!. The friendliness was great seeing as we were not from round those parts and we really did no want to leave. Will definitely visit again when next in the area.

Having trudged across half of Derbyshire, my boyfriend were not in the mood to cook for ourselves back at our self-catering cottage. We stumbled upon The Barley Mow asThe King's Head, down the road was closed. Luckily, The Barley Mow was recommended to us by a local getting into her car. Thank goodness she did! The Landlady is a really fabulous hostess and a great entertainer; she goes to great lengths to ensure her customers are catered for. Between the two of us, we sampled fish and chips (hake) and lasagne, both of which were absolutely delicious. A must see for anyone staying in or passing through Bonsall.
