As always we chose this accomodation from reading the excellent reviews and have to agree with every point, ie rooms, Julie the Landlady, breakfast, welcome and comfort.
We stayed for two nights in a super kingsize room. The comfort of the bed was on a par with our own at home. The flat screen television was indeed large. The room was a great place for relaxing in after spending the day sightseeing.
The bathroom was clean and comfortable, though no bath, only an unlit shower. Towels, soap, tissues, toiletries all provided.
What we struggle to understand from reviews is that no-one has mentioned the fact that the accomodation sits on a busy road with frequent HGV traffic, particularly from early morning around 5am. As we were looking to enjoy a quiet break we did not enjoy this as our early alarm call. So bear in mind if you are looking for a quiet few days.

Room Tip: Enquire if any rooms have a bath.

As with many B & Bs in the area due to steep sided valleys we are on a main road. Maybe the other reviewers realised that the A5012 denoted this and noise from it was of no real concern to them. However, all the rooms are double glazed. We do try to make our home as comfortable as possible for our guests which we feel is reflected in our reviews. You did book a room with shower which incidently is large enough for two people. We do have two superkingsize bedded rooms with bath and shower facilities. One of these was available and we would have moved you if you had requested a room with a bath. Regarding lighting we do tend to use energy saving bulbs and they can take some time to warm up. We feel they produce more than adequate light. Julie Boden.

Booked the super kingsize room as a treat for a long weekend away. Really glad we did. Room was spacious, has beamed ceiling and a huge TV should you want to wind down the evening.
On arrival we were shown round, had a coffee and biscuits brought to us and had a chat with Julie. Really friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
Had 3 really good nights sleep, and 3 amazing breakfasts which are enough to keep you going till tea time.
Everywhere is spotless and has a feeling of a home from home, rather than stopping in a B&B.
The walk up to Bonsall is steep, but its downhill on the way back, and Cromford is a 10 minute stroll at most. Easy access to the A6 or A515 for those going further north, and a great place to base yourself to explore.
Would recommend to anyone

Room Tip: Super Kingsized room is lovely, worth the extra £5 if you like a spacious bed

We spent 5 days exploring the Peak District and the Pig of Lead was the perfect base. The room was comfortable, clean and large with a nice big TV. The breakfast, especially the bacon, was delicious and Julie our host was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this excelent B&B.

Owner of Pig of Lead is very welcoming and makes you a hot drink with biscuits on your arrival. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was very good and she did a special vegetarian one for myself. The lounge is very nice to relax in after a days walk.It was Bonsall carnival that weekend which was very good with live music until 12.00pm, hope to go again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks the side or back

"Julie" provides a most welcoming B.&B. & her breakfasts are superb - individually cooked to a very high standard & on piping hot plates ( which you don't get in the majority of 4* hotels). She will provide anything you ask for & if it is not available one day it will be the next!
I always take a folding armchair with me wherever I stay & it was necessary here to make a total of two so that both my wife & I could enjoy the huge Freeview T.V. set in comfort.
We would certainly stay again & recommend this ex-pub. without reservation.

Room Tip: Take a folding armchair.

We arrived rather late in the evening but received a warm welcome from Julie before being shown to our room, which ticked all the boxes - spacious, comfortable, with an enormous double bed and a full size, en-suite bathroom with shower. In the morning, we were treated to one of the best English breakfasts we have ever had - bacon, sausage and black pudding, with field mushrooms, tomatoes, fried egg and oatcakes - delicious, and enough to count as brunch rather than breakfast. Julie grew up locally and was able to give good advice on places to visit in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again if we return to Derbyshire.
