We stopped off at the New Inn for a cool drink on a very hot day in July.
A good pint & a nice lunch in a great dales pub with fantastic views.
Oh I forgot, "the friendly smile and thanks for calling in."

Lovely country pub with good wholesome food, plenty of choice for drinks (local and worldwide). This was our second closest 'local' having stayed at Masons Campsite a 2 minute walk away. Very much enjoyed sitting outside and taking in the breathtaking views of the Dales. Views here slightly beat The Craven Arms down the road but both pubs are equally quaint with all the traditional interiors, ales and good food you would expect. Sunday lunch excellent value and delicious.

The New Inn has a very nice location with spacious beer gardens at the front and to the side of the property, both offering excellent views of the valley. On a nice day you couldn't wish for a nicer location to take a breather with a cool pint. The beers are excellent and the interior of the pub offers a typical Dales decor and atmosphere. The food was OK - just about! It was definitely 'pub food' - simple and pretty uninspiring. Both myself and my wife were left with a lingering taste of stale fat all evening after we had had our meal. If you want to stop off for a drink it's a pretty good choice - great location, good parking and decent outside seating areas. If you want to eat I would personally go to Burnsall - it's only down the road and for a few £'s more the food is immeasurably better.

We stayed in Appletreewick and were fortunate to find the New Inn on the first evening. Both meals that we had there were first rate pub food and the real ales were excellent. Worth trying are the extensive range of continental beers but the one I tried was a bit expensive. We found the service relaxed and perfectly acceptable. We ate in the bar, not the restaurant, but the décor seemed fine and not run-down.

Good home made food, let down by big queues at the bar and a rather run-down bar area.

The whole bar is in need of a clean and lick of paint - it could be transformed pretty cheaply, but there seems to be a lack of desire to please in the owners. They we understaffed on the evening we visited, with big queues to order food and beer. I saw two groups leave in frustration.

The beer is good and well kept. The food arrived in good time and was tasty - more gastro pub offerings are available at the other pub in the village, but this seemed to be better value.

There seems to be an unused dining room that could and should be used on buys evenings - we visited during school half term times and the place was creaking with the number of visitors.

Dogs welcome in the bar.
