Khandala : Dukes Retreat : Luxury complimented with beauty
Date : 30th April 2010 - 2nd May 2010

We had booked a Royal Executive Suite of Velvett Country Resort at Khandala. On reaching there we found that the rooms were not as expected and as told by the executives. We have stayed at Velvett Country several times but into thier Deluxe Cottages and the bungalow. Their Deluxe Cottage was much better than the Royal Suite.
We just wanted to pamper ourselves with the best luxuries and so opted for the Royal Suite.
Highly disappointed with the treatment we decided to leave for Mumbai. But while leaving we thought we could check with Dukes Retreat too. Since it was a weekend we never expected to have any chances to get rooms available.
But to our fortune they had 1 executive room and 1 cottage available. Thats it, we grabbed the opportunity.
I cant explain the feeling when i walked into our executive room. Just felt i was in paradise. The view was explicit. A huge window facing the valley.
The service ,ambience & hospitality did not give us a chance to regret. On the contrary we were happy we took the right decision. It truly was a value for the money spent.
For the first time we did not feel the pinch of spending. Luxurious treatment and feel in all aspect.
Our kids enjoyed to the fullest. The hotel has a beautiful play area which keeps the kids occupied. They also provide nanny's to take care of the kids.
U think of anything and they had it all. To add to all this the food was also delicious.
Each and every staff member was courteous and most importantly always cheerful.

I beleive many would have written reviews about Dukes Retreat. But i wanted to share my experience to tell everyone that this place is definately close to nature with all updated ammenties and truly a luxurious place where u can relax and enjoy.
The people out there beleive that our time is precious and ensure they make the best of our time spent there.
Thank you so so much for making our stay so pleasant!!!! I would recommend this to every individual who is looking for a short vacation.

a nice hotel in Khandala, the rooms aren't that great but its OK for overnight stay though the views are gorgeous. You will see occassional monkeys around the trees from the balcony of your room which you have to watch out for as they can snatch your bags and can get quite violent. The buffet dinner is quite delicious with a lot of variety of dishes in the menu. Staff are not so friendly though. I think its one of the best hotels you can get in the Khandala area.

I took a short trip to Khandala with my friend The resort has cottages which are quite nice but have no phones and no cell network. Each cottage is far away from the main reception so it means hanging out of the veranda or going out of the cottage to make calls. No TV in the room, a tiny pool and a non-functional jacuzzi would have led to a terrible trip The place is on a really bad road so a car needs to ferry you up and down. The food was ok . The resort is very overpriced for the facilities

A place i would like to go to and would reccomend all person to go there.

Dukes Retreat is a premier Resort located at Khandala with 5-star facilities and a breathtaking view that is best in Khandala and Lonavala. Dukes Retreat is located on a hill along a 500 ft cliff that overlooks the entire Khandala Ghat.

It was the first time but a marvellous trip for us at The Dukes Retreat,Khandala. The natural beauty with greenery, hills and mountains made the vacation rich with great moments, ones we never had before. The staff was very co-operative and helpful. Rooms, services, food and hospitality were wonderful. Above all, the entertainment was excellent. Indeed a mind-blowing trip at khandala. Thanks

This resort is a little away from the main city. This actually makes it quieter and cleener. Its a popular weekend getaway and new year destination.
The rooms are simply beautiful and so is the entire resort itself.
The food and service is excellent.
Tariff is on the higher side, but you could always bargain and get a good deal.
