Reviewed May 1, 2014

Its an hour and a half away from Bombay and is a great place for a romantic or business lunches...the property has perhaps the best views in Khandala and has been maintained really well.

Would highly recommend a visit for the views...the food can be much better though.

Good: The hotel is located in a beautiful location and it is well maintained. Me and my wife did not require to venture out of the property for the 3 days that we stayed there from April 18 to April 20, 2014 as we thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool, indoor games, terrace views and the nice little area under the trees containing swings. The chirping of birds that we heard early morning from the balcony was soothing. A relaxing getaway we hope for - it turned out to be exactly that.

Bad: The only reason why we may not come back to this property is the exorbitant prices. Food cost is just way too high and food quality is ok. Repairs and maintenance were carried out in our room at the time of check-in. I found an earthworm and one rupee sized bug inside the room.

Room Tip: Go for valley facing rooms

We stayed in dukes with our 3 year old son for our 6th wedding anniversary and it was a perfect choice. While check in we were given a room upgrade from deluxe to cottage which was an icing on the cake. The room was nicely maintained with all required amenities. It was a 1bhk cottage with nice sit out area extending the living room and a open shower area wch was an extension to the bedroom... this gave enuf space for my son to play around and enjoy our 2n stay at dukes. The breakfast spread was good and so was their buffet dinner. However buffet shud include some starters to make it a complete meal and value for money. The kids play area was great too. Overall a great place to be at and would definitely visit this resort again.

I wanted to go for the massage but Spa of health club was not well maintained. The place is very good but the food is expensive. The rooms are beautiful and the view is amazing. We got a taste of Dukes' warm hospitality from the time we checked in. While roaming in the hotel we found many guests entered the swimming pool in their causal dress which make the swimming pool dirty. The hotel should provide the costume.

Room Tip: Prefer for a mountain facing room.

We planned a quick getaway from the hustle bustle of Mumbai and booked ourselves into this nice cozy hotel.

Being only 90 mins away from our home, less time is wasted on travelling and more with making lasting memories with loved ones.

The hotel graciously allowed us to check into our rooms 2 hours early than usual without any extra charge.

Our room had a superb valley view !

The Chef and staff from the kitchen went out of their way and cooked some delicious kids meals for our 4 yr old.

Meals from the buffet were good, some of the dishes were delicious.

We will definitely visit again !

We were a group of nine people, including two kids, who stayed at The Dukes Retreat, Khandala over the Good Friday weekend. We got a tase of Dukes' warm hospitality from the time we checked in (when we were upgraded to Cottages from Executive Rooms) to the time we checked out (when we were given thoughtful farewell gifts). The property is vast and well-maintained, the views are amazing and the staff is courteous and helpful. However, the response time to guests' requests could be improved upon, especially the food service staff. Our rooms were not made till we reminded the staff. We had to constantly follow-up on drink orders, the food at the counters was not promptly replinshed and there seemed to be a shortage of cutlery. Although the staff were ever-willing to accommodate our requests for specific dishes, the quality of the food could be better - sprouts at the salad counter were raw and there was hardly any chaat in the papdi chaat. More road signs to direct guests from the Khandala exit of the Expressway to Dukes would be helpful. More activities for kids, like adventure activities, would be nice.
Nevertheless, our experience was quite memorable and we are eager to return to Dukes in the monsoon when, we have been assured, the ambience is even more breathtaking!
A word of thanks to Mr. Yasar Baig who took special care of our group. Thanks also to Mr. Animesh and other Front Office staff and Mr. Rakesh Guleria for their kind courtesy.
