Four of us stayed here for a wedding for 3 nights in February. Overall the experience was good. The rooms were large with a nice view through large windows. Buffet dinners were great. Really tasty food with nice desserts also. Breakfast was tasty and varied. There is a bar which we used each night. The pool was nice but rather cold when we were there! There is a terrace with great views of the hills and the expressway below- fun to watch the crazy drivers!

We were surprised that there were no countryside walks directly from the hotel- just along the road past houses and not much in particular! Lonavela was a 10 minute tuk-tuk ride away and worth a visit to buy the famous chikki!

Rooms are excellent. Breakfast is good. The view from the restaurant is amazing. Only problem is that some rooms do not have any view at all. Have not tried other services like spa, etc. hence cannot comment.

We stayed in a Deluxe double-room for two nights. The views are amazing and the room is very clean and well maintained. The service was quick and efficient. The resort is quiet, peaceful and has a nice game-room. The staff are by and large friendly but we weren't very happy with the service at the Panorama cafe.

Some aspects of their cost-cutting really bothered us. The resort forgot to upgrade their TATA Sky set-top boxes so we had only a couple of working channels on our TV - we would have appreciated a prior warning regarding this. The bathroom in our double-room had toiletries for just one person. Their restaurants only offer a buffet option forcing you to dine in the room or pay for the buffet even if not particularly hungry. The food at the Duchess restaurant was only so-so.

I recently had our company's annual get together at the Dukes Retreat.

After having stayed at other hotels, I feel this hotel would rate as one of the best at Khandala in terms of the hotel room, food and other facilities like gym, swimming pool, large conference hall etc.

The rooms are fairly large compared to other hotels, clean with an awesome view.

Truly it was a great experience staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose the Deluxe room for a lovely view

The Dukes resort is easy to reach place on the Mumbai Pune road, the hotel reception gave correct directions to reach the place. As we drove into the hotel gate, the first impression was that of a well kept and well maintained place. There is a short drive up a small hill upon which the hotel is built, a quick left and right turn brings you right in front of the lobby. Valet parking ensures that you dont have to juggle around parking on the sloped road. check in process was nicely handled, first impression was of well trained and professional people managing the place.

A welcome drink (warm lemon tea) was promptly served. There was no fuss in deciding which room to give to us, the room number was already marked. The hotel area looked clean and pleasant, a kids swimming pool to the left, a small play area to the right, a nice open plan cafe in the front, could easily see the great valley view in the front, lot of light and a soft background music playing through well disguised speakers all around.

The lobby is on the 4th floor and the rooms are on the floors below, so unlike all other hotels, where you have to climb up the stairs or take the elevator up, here you have to take the elevator down, or climb down the stairs to get to your room :-)

Our deluxe room was big, with a full glass wall, giving a splendid view of the mountains and valley in front. The room had the 'wow' factor. Nice seating area in front of the T.V. and a separate stepped area for the beds. There were 2 big single beds, joined together to make one huge bed :-) And yes, if you have seen the pics in other reviews or the hotel website, the rooms have what they say, which includes a big glass window see through directly into the bathroom, all along the head-board of the bed (LOL). Windows are sound proof, so you will hardly hear the noise of the highway underneath. Good amenities in the room, wish there was a lazy chair.

We loved the food laid out in the buffet, in both the restaurants. Plenty of choice for a short stay, for both veg and non-veg. The hotel staff were always ready to help, and had few other choices of food ready if you asked for.

Unless you plan to eat outside the hotel, will suggest to take the all meals AP plan. Dining separately in the restaurants might actually turn out to burn a bigger hole in your pocket.

The staff was well mannered throughout and ensured that we were well looked after. They seem to take their feedback seriously and seemed conscious of this fact.

We particularly loved the overall ambience, very clean, calm and relaxing. The hotel is pretty much booked especially for wedding groups and on weekends. We found solace on weekdays. Would love to visit again in monsoon.

Room Tip: Delux room have good view

I recently attended a corporate meeting at Duke's Retreat in Khandala. The venue was very appropriate for this purpose. The meeting was for 500 people. THe facilities included a very nice convention / meeting hall. A sizable lawn for games, and meals on a veranda or in a cafe with a beautiful view down the canyon. It was in the midst of dry winter when I visited but I imagine that the view is better during the monsoon season.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the canyon. The floor to ceiling windows which you can look out of from t...
