good hotel but as others have pointed out needs a makeover to justify its tarriff...it seems overpriced for the ambience..pros are location ,big rooms, pool and restaurent dutchess..beds also need to be changed as they are old. staff is good however..

Room Tip: choose deluxe rooms to make it worth..

its definately not value for money..overpriced..it has good location, pool, dutchess restaurent..but definately requires a lot of ambience for the prices they charge..food too expensive...rooms also excecutive offer no views for which they charge so much..only few deluxe rooms with good views..room size and bathrooms good though.beds also need to be changed.were uncomfortable.i would say take away the location from this place and its downner..requires makeover asap..

Room Tip: choose deluxe rooms to justify price..

Hi! I had been there recently and returned yesterday from khandala and had stayed at Dukes retreat for 2 nights.
Monsoon time and a great place to be near mumbai is lonava/khandala.That's how we have grown.
as you enter the gate of the resort you immediately get an idea that the place has an ample of car paking space. then they also have valet parking. i had actually been there alone as it was my work cum time for myself trip. sine i was alone i had made up my mind that the cheapest rooms available will be fine for me. as i went there i got to know that their executive rooms are the cheapest. though i was asked to have a look at the deluxe room too as i had insisted on a valley view room. trust me i had to change my mind as deluxe rooms had an amazing view from balcony and the room was designed to suit the kind of trip i had planned. it was an all meal inclusive tariff i had chosen.
brilliantly designed rooms. it was like enjoying natures simplicity in the comfort of luxuries. even their restaurant is nicely designed keeping in mind the surrounding views. huge place to st and a good variety of food. though i m personally not a huge fan of buffet when it comes to lunch/dinner. but that dint matter much because they have variety and you definitely tend to overeat. though for me the best was breakfast buffet. not that i had issues with lunch/dinner buffet. comparatively i would give more marks to breakfast.
staff is very well trained and they will meet your satisfaction thats for sure. cleanliness and house keeping is brilliantly done. i loved their bags in which they gave newspapers in the morning.
when i left i was given a small gift. may be some chikki, i dint rally understand what it was but it was delicious. beds to sleep will give you a king like comfort. even the bathrooms have glasses facing the french window which opens to the beautiful scenery outside.
but, yeah since it was raining and obviously the best place to enjoy was in the balcony, there were very tiny water snakes, lizards, etc. but then thats not a complain. just be careful to shut the balcony door so that they do not enter the room.
for people who are in the habbit of drinking, i would advice its better to carry your own bottle rather than spending too much on alcohol there. they have smoking and non-smoking rooms. if in a family i believe they have v good cottages too. though havent seen them. but i am sure they wouldnt disappoint.
all in all a memorable stay and looking forward to be there weneva in a mood to relax and pamper.
and yes, they have ample of other facilities like indoor games, swimming, health spa, massages, etc. which i couldnt even spare time to enjoy.

Great location, great views from some rooms. Food is ok but very expensive. The hotel now shows clear signs that it is getting old and needs a makeover. Nevertheless, it is a great place to be at. Sitting out at night in the lounge area next to the pool during the monsoon / winter is enjoyable.

At an excellent location with scenic mountain and waterfall view, dukes is a good place for a one day drive from mumbai. The rooms are toooo expensive, and not worth the stay. The so called complimentary breakfast isn't worth at all. Snacks are good, ordered from the menu in the evening.
Swimming pool is good for those who really don't know swimming- it's a shallow pool!!
But, the views from the rooms and the restaurant and the viewing gallery make up for every other flaw!
    An excellent place to unwind!
