Mystic Valley Spa - the name conjures up visions of otherwordly charm, of a special place. The reality is a huge disappointment. It is just another hotel really; with attached spa facilities. The only difference from a city hotel is that the property is spread out over a few acres, instead of being located in a single multi-storeyed building. Even so, don't expect a verdant lush paradise. It is for the most part concrete-paved, with nary a tree in sight. Why then would one drive 3 hours from the city to be here?

The reception staff were polite, courteous and helpful. Check-in was particularly efficient, considering that over 70 of us were checking in at the same time. The same cannot be said of the room cleaning though. The bed linen and towels were not particularly clean. I would recommend that you carry your own soap and shampoo - the ones provided at the room will sting your eyes. This at a spa resort?

The rooms located in blocks interspersed throughout the property, are vaguely reminiscent of college hostel rooms - especially the way they face the common open verandah/corridor. When it rained, these open corridors were flooded with water.

The food at the restaurant is passable. Service at the restaurant is just OK. We spotted a rat scurrying across the dining area - while we were dining! Room service has nothing much on offer.

There is a large room that is laughably called the "gym" - with a single treadmill, a lone exercise cycle, a pool table and a TT table. Both fitness machines were under repair whilst we were there. The conference rooms too were quite ordinary with poor acoustics.

The best part about Mystic Valley Spa has to be the courteous staff who were willing to accommodate special requests for our rather large group. I don't think we will be going back there for another business event though. I would definitely not recommend it for leisure/personal travel and stay.

We planned at a last moment and in rainy season that too on the weekend only Mystic Valley had room for us. The hotel is good and actually it is apartments that they offer on rental basis. Nice spacious place and with kids this will be haven for them. They provide all amenities but the service is not so good and sometimes fussy. The scenic beauty is good and very well made I should say.

This was an offsite trip for our company employees & key business associates. The website of the property seems to have not been updated since a very long time. Not let me share the good part first.

It's only worth staying in the suite rooms since they are really very spacious & give you the resort feel with most of the suite rooms giving us the nice valley view. The room & bathroom amenities are sufficient with a 32" LCD TV. The food is simply great with the chef ensuring everything personally. The restaurant too is big with a nice outdoor ambience for smokers.

The spa is good enough as per 3 star standards & so is the swimming pool. The room service is pathetic. The inhouse phones do not work with no instructions book or paper. Getting hot water for a bath was a big achievement.

This property is ok for the budget conscious people but definately not worth for the quality conscious people.

Mystic Valley Spa Resort, Igatpuri. is much hyped property /.. had stayed there in the month of May (2009) over the long weekend. We were hoping our stay would be comfortable given the exorbitant price that we were paying for the weekend package.

The suites were are pretty spacious and well furnished But however, the room given to us was not valley facing inspite of being charged for it, a confirmation from the travel agent + repeated requests made to the front office at the time of check in –
- The living room had no AC. Plus the TV in that room had no cable connection most of the time due to power fluctuation! . The electricity went off atleast 3-4 times during our stay
- the food and the spa vouchers which were part of the package were handed over to us after repeated reminders.
- Needless to mention - rest of the package inclusions like the welcome drink and chocolates / fruit basket were missing too.
The property is relatively new and is understaffed and therefore not well managed. Would rate their service as below average. There is nothing to do at the property apart from the game room that they have.
The breakfast was pretty good at the restaurant but the dinner at the poolside was quite ok.
The pool was really dirty and was murky and was not cleaned on a daily basis.

We did feel a little cheated since the hotel package for 2N/3D was considerably high as compared to the other properties plus, had a pathetic service level. They couldn’t even deliver what was mentioned in the package – forget going an extra mile to make the stay comfortable. There were atleast 1-2 guests at the reception complaining whenever we passed by that place during our stay. Who would want to go thru this stress during a vacation break ?

In a snapshot- this place / package is definitely not value for money and is highly over-rated.

Anyways, we would definitely not recommend this place to any of our friends or relatives.

Hi,

Based on my previous experience when I travelled in the month of March, I dared to directly go to the property directly. It was also very late hours.

Reached to the resort at around 10.00 pm. As the valley view facing room was having some problem, I was given the Pool facing Room. In that there was some problem with the Intercom as told by the room attendendent. The Intercom was not working.

Afterwards, there was some party going on the Dining Area. A loud music was played. It was quite disturbing. Eventually at around 2.00 am in the early morning, the music was stopped. For that also I have to go to the Reception as the intercom was not working. It seems that the Management is not bothered about the small families or small groups which are visiting their resort. They are more interested in intertaining the big groups from which they are getting lumpsum billings.

In the morning, we could discover that there was some problem with the drainage of the Bath tub. All the waster was coming out in the Washroom.

Even after paying an exhorbitant amount of Rs. 7000/- + for a staying only for saturday night, the facilities which are given were not upto mark.

At the time of check out, I have given my feedback mentioning all the issues which are faced. I was told that the Manager will speak with me. Now its almost 3 weeks, & still the Manager has not got time to speak with me.

I will definately not recommend to anybody to stay in this resort. You will definately get a good resort if you are ready to pay this much amount & will also get value for your hard earned money.

Regards,

Where does one start? Firstly, the website is very misleading. The place is partly underconstruction and is not surrounded by any forestly area - its barren land all around. When we landed there we were the only guest staying at the place!!! Thus first impressions were pretty bad. Next comes the rooms, the service amongst other things. The couch is a little loud but let me not get into details. The electricity went off atleast 3-4 times during the night, and the TV not working wasnt helping either. Next, the mosquitoes were a huge problem and the staff did not offer any goodnight. The next day the electricity went off atleast 5-6 times, each time the lights went off you had to get up to get the whole electricity system restarted (the lights, tv, fan, etc), then the TV stopped working, then the phone. A guy came to me with a mobile number for room service. All in all room and room service were way below standards.
The facilities - the pool had frogs, the spa was not something i tried, cant think of anything else there was to do. Absolutely no activities, no bikes, no short treks, nothing!!!
The only saving grace was food... indian and chinese food. dont expect any other cuisine.
A complete waste of 13k for a 2 day weekend break. STAY AWAY!!

I had gone with my family for a pleaceful getaway from the hustle bustle of Mumbai .. As far as the place or location goes, its a wonderful place and no complaints regarding that. I did the booking by contacting the property itself and they were very helpful by sending their representative to collect the cheque from my residence. But as soon as i reached the property their inefficiency started showing up. We had to wait for almost 15 mins before anyone attended to our booking at the reception. In this time no water was provided even after requested twicefi. Finally the 3rd we asked for water in a sterner tone it was provided. We were very happy with the Rooms, with the exception that the mini bar dint have chilled beverages for our use after we checked in. Beers were room temperature which is a crime as guests who have a 2-3 hr drive behind them would love to relax with a chilled beer especially in the scorching heat of the Indian summer. Their room service, Housekeeping need a lesson in courtesy and efficiency. I had to go down to the reception the next day as even after calling the housekeeping and Room service more than a couple of times, bottles of mineral water just dint come. Finally the reception had to make a few calls after which the water was brought , but it was also at room temperature.
The food and entertainment arranged by the Resort in the evening was good and made our experience a slightly enjoyable one. There is 8-10 hr power cut on Saturdays which was told to us by the Housekeeping staff. On arrival when asked the reception we were told that only 2hrs power cut is expected. So the property doesnt do well with the honesty towards its guests. they have generators running thru out the powercut but they have to be stopped for an hr or more so they can cool down as well.
The property and location are nice but the way it is managed is terrible. It ccan be handled in a much better fashion so the guests would like to come back again and recommend it to their family and frds too. There were always 3-4 other guests with complaints whenever i went to the reception with a complaint or problem. Thats too many guests with complaints when all of us have come there to relax and enjoy a nice weekend with our family and frds.
