I booked landmark, Ganpatipule for 31 st Dec 2013 with my family as my preferred MTDC accommodation was full. I made by decision even after reading not so happening reviews on trip advisor, but what clinched the deal for me was the price. At Rs 3000/- (complimentary BF incl.) for an A/C room on the 31st eve. was a reasonable bargain & the swimming pool was an added plus. Good enough to try my luck.
The property is huge on a hill lock at the 0-Km Ganpatipule milestone, about 15 min. walking dist. from the temple & the beach. The first impression is of a deserted property, without any landscaping, average lobby till you reach you room.
The a/c deluxe room which I had booked was on top of the hill, and involved some climbing of stairs but it is preferred if you want to have an unobstructed view of the sea from the room balcony. For senior citizens one can explore the cottages which is at the foothill but I don’t think they offer a clear sea view.
The room was well kept with a double bed & sofa bed (comfortable for 2 kids). The toilet was neat and clean with hot/cold water facility. The swimming pool is on the extreme end of the property and involves some walking up and down the terrain. Could have been maintained better but ok for the kids to splash around. The complimentary B/F was scrumptious with typical Maharashtrian spread-Poha, shira, upma, bread omelet & cornflakes was also served.
To sum it up Landmark is property with a lot of wasted potential and lot could be done to transform into a premium property but till then it is a value for money if your concern is only a comfortable room with basic amenities and a good view of the Arabian Sea
