“Quiet, well run hotel”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

On a quiet treelined residential street, Thinh Vuong has nice, bright rooms with fridge, etc. Great restaurant across the street for breakfast, lunch and coffee (I love Kon Tum cafe) and another fun, outdoor restaurant with great local dishes around the corner. We ended up staying four nights, because we enjoyed it so. The owner speaks english very well and the staff is sweet and appreciate a few vietnamese sentences. Beds are a bit hard. Shower not optimal, but good enough. We paid 280.000 dong for our room, which felt like good value. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms upstairs have nice views and may be more quiet (there's a car shop next door). Std...

Kon tum is not the easiest place to travel for people who, like us, only speak English, but staying here made it comfortable and easy. The room was large, clean, and comfortable for very little money, and has a desktop computer in room which is a nice touch when traveling a long time. Only one staff member who seems to be the owner speaks English, by she was incredibly helpful and always available. She even gave us a room to shower and relax in the afternoon we returned from trekking before our bus trip out if town, free of charge. Could not have asked for more in this little town.

My husband and I stayed in Thinh Voung Hotel for one night as we passed through Kon Tum on our way to Buon Ma Thuot. The room was relatively clean and spacious. It was fine for the night, however in the style of Vietnam we were woken up early with construction going on across the street - no biggie - just another early rise to hit the road again.
The lady running the hotel was super-helpful and spoke good English, as she was able to point us in the direction of a reputable mechanic and somewhere good to chow down on Com Ga. The food was great and hanging with the locals was interesting, as per usual.
Plus - they have an elevator...Always a bonus in the land of tall buildings and many stairs.

Room Tip: Ask to check the rooms before you decide on one, as they are happy to do this.

Skip Dalat and Sapa. If you want a relaxing experience in the Central Highlands, Kontum and the Thinh Vuong Hotel should be your choice. The hotel is located in the southern part of town,
a quieter, more residential area. At certain times of the year (Jan thru March), the weather is absolutely delightful. The hotel is is clean spacious, tastefully designed. The staff is to die for.
Laundry that I gave them at 9AM was washed, dried, pressed and hanging in my wardrobe by 7PM. I arrived in Kontum at 2AM and the owner had a taxi waiting for me to take me to the hotel. She knew that at 2AM in Kontum, there would be no taxis or motor bikes waiting to ferry passengers to their destinations. If you love to eat good, cheap food from all parts of VN,
Kontum is your place. People from all parts of VN have resettled in KT and brought their cuisines with them. Visually KT is just beautiful to look at. Trees, flowers, sculpted shrubs, parks, churches, temples, parks without the hustle and bustle of the major cities

Room Tip: Any and every room is great

Kon Tum doesn’t have a lot of foreign tourists. As a matter of fact, we were the only obviously foreign folks around this region for several days. So the hotels aren’t going to be like what you’ll fine in Hoi An, let’s say.

We looked at Dakbla and turned tail at that depressing place. We headed to Thinh Vuong and found it great by comparison. But that is only by comparison. The place is simply satisfactory and for the cheap price, it is hard to complain too much.

The AC worked and all was relatively clean. There was a computer in the room (nice touch for a budget place). The water was warm at best. The staff was friendly and spoke the smallest bit of English. Breakfast isn’t included but they do serve a complete breakfast for $2.50 each.

There is nothing particularly wrong with this hotel and it is probably very good for Kon Tum. But it pretty much just OK overall.

We've been there many times.

The rooms are cheap, spacious and always clean (180.000 vnd for a large double room with bathroom, TV, desk, computer - 300.000 vnd for a very large double room with bathroom, TV, desk, computer, kitchen).

Very well located in the center of Kon Tum (only 5min walk from a market and a super market).

The breakfast are correct (there is also many street restaurants aroung where you can have pho).

The staff is very helpful and friendly. If your flight is late, they will let you keep your room (if the hotel is not full of course) until you leave even if the check out is normally at 12pm.

Also, many volounteers stay at this hotel... Really interesting when you want to know more about the humanitarian programs in the area.

We only stayed here 1 night, because we were on a roadtrip and tight schedule because of our visa. The hotel is a good place to stay. The people are friendly. Breakfast is good! Costs 2 USD. Rooms are clean and big! Wifi available. The park your motorbike inside during the night. The only thing I found not so easy was that we had to book the hotel by calling them.
