This is probably a communist era hotel but it has been completely updated (except for the size of the elevators). I paid 40 leva (about 21 Euros) for a single with breakfast (for 5 leva more dinner would have also been included). My room was 805, it was clean, reasonably sized, single room, including cable television and internet. The bed was the typical hard bed with hard pillow that I have come to expect in Eastern Europe, but it was comfortable and I slept well. I had a good view of the Danube River. The staff spoke reasonably good English, they were friendly and polite. There is free parking in a parking lot in-front of the hotel. If you are driving from north-western Europe to Bulgaria or Greece then Vidin is the first place you will come to in Bulgaria. I recommend that you do not stop in Romania (I always feel like I am getting ripped-off in Romania). This is not a five star hotel, it is a reasonable priced, clean hotel, for those who want comfort but are not concerned with luxury. The breakfast was simple (a couple of slices of some type of meat [this I did not eat], a boiled egg, some bread, a sliced tomato, about half a sliced cucumber, Bulgarian white cheese, butter and jam).

Room Tip: Vidin is a quiet city, so noise is not a problem, but the upper floors are very quiet and offer a good view of the river. The elevators are not attached to the walls of any of the rooms so you should not have to worry about hearing the elevator.

We chose this hotel by chance as it was the first one that caught our eye as we were driving in and it was a great choice! The two receptionists (one in the evening and one the next morning) were extremely helpful and friendly, with exceptionally good English ("my English isn't too good, I get confused between 'possibly' and probably' " - really???).

There were plenty of rooms available, all at very reasonable prices so the receptionist offered to show us some so that we could choose. The first one at just 80 lev was an apartment with two rooms (bedroom and lounge with two settees), a bathroom with a shower and a corner bath, a flat screen television and a balcony withn a breathtaking view of the Danube and Romania just across the other side - we were sold!

Peaceful and quiet night's sleep and free parking right outside the front door.

Breakfast on the terrace under the balloons and ribbons from the previous evening's wedding party was the basic Bulgarian spam, cheese, cucumber and bread but the coffee was good and I shocked the young waiter out of his cool dude persona by asking for some milk to have in my tea. 'Milk??'

Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: The higher up you go the better the view, obviously!

I stayed here for one night in a large double room. It was a clean place with a very impressive panorama of the Danube River. The parking is free. I was not interested in having breakfast even if it was included.
The elevator is a real danger for your kids and even for you in case that you don't pay attention.

Room Tip: the rooms having an even number have an beautiful panorama over the Danube river
