The church mouse is a very average and basic pub. The food isn't the best and the service is pretty poor. The general atmosphere is pretty boring. The value for money is quite good despite the food being bad.

“Good range in menu, tasty food in pleasant surroundings”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

This was our first visit, though our friends had been before and enjoyed it. The menu was large and very interesting. The lamb shank pie was fun - having the shank sticking out of the pie, as well as being very tasty. The vegetables would have been better hotter.
After a pause I could squeeze in the ginger toffee pudding which was well worth the effort!
It is a large pub and busied up over the time we were there. The waitress was friendly and service was steady, not fast but the pace suited us.
I would be happy to return and look forward to trying out other items on the menu.

There is always a very warming atmosphere here, the food is always top notch and service is quick and friendly. It is not especially cheep but you get your moneys worth. If you go and register your email address with them you also get some special offers.

“Nice cosy family pub.”
Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in the adjacent travelodge - this does what it says on the tin - basic but clean and warm. Bonus is the attached church mouse pub / restaurant . Above average food, nice atmosphere, good beer. We were with two children and were very impressed with the childrens menu. In particular the rabbit fricasee and the raspberry sorbet were great. Highly recommended for a meal and also a good value hotel / food combo.
