“Best place for first timers”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Location is a big plus. Quite close to the main entrance, Ganesh gate. Ashram gates open at 4am. Choose a room away from the road. Single rooms above the reception are the best for solo budget travelers. Neat and clean linen. Hot water,TV and safety deposit boxes. The waiters in the restaurant are strange at times. House keeping guys could also annoy you with the body language for tips. There is a nice book shop on the ground floor. They keep nice books in the room. Suites best for first time and short stay guests. Recommended.

Room Tip: Top floor.

I am Venkat, from Bangalore
I stayed in this hotel for 3 days , this month. Overall experience was excellent. Let me divide my review into 3 categories - Room including facilities, Food, People.
a) About Room and Facilities - The moment I landed at 6th floor (stayed in room 6502 - Single Deluxe Room), I could feel the tranquility , aesthetic values maintained. The verandah (or lobby) or whatever you want to call it as, was quite spacious with lovely paintings / pictures of gods and goddesses. Book shelf , Chairs and some other antique collections added more picturesque value. Then, inside room, things were arranged pretty neat . Limited furnitures, but very nice and relevant. 2 floor carpets , and an antique shelf added to the impressive looks. There were absolutely no rhodents which made me feel very comfortable!!!. Bathroom is quite spacious, neat . There was a tap , to be mended, but anyway it was a small thing and didnt hamper my spirits in anyway. With good Geyser in place, hot water was always there. Telephone in the room was dead on first day, but I appreciate that the concerned staff took corrective measures and made sure it worked next day. In the meantime, there was a phone in the verandah of the same floor, which I used for ordering room service . AC was also fine (split AC) except it made bit of noise sometimes. Cant help with these AC machines, whether at home or at a hotel. LCD TV was working fine , but I was very much disappointed to find only 1 kannada channel and would like to say that it would be good if some 10 channels at least are provided. Cot / Bed was good/cozy, except, the height of the cot was bit high. Room service was decent enough , though once they took almost 50 mts to serve morning coffee. Otherwise they served within 20 mts or so, which is fine. With complementary Breakfast, Wi fi, and News paper, I thought its very good value for money.

b) Food : I give 4.75 out of 5, for food. As a vegetarian and having liking for bit spicy food, I found the food to be very tasty. Whether its soup or french fries or Veg Fried Rice or Panneer Butter masala or Idli / Dosa, I found them all very tasty. I really appreciate the chef for this. At the ground floor restaurant, people serving food are quite friendly/courteous and show warmth. The AC was not that effective in the restaurant. Anyway , it was a very good experience again, w.r.t Food.

c) People : People working here, right from front office, to restaurant to room service are quite friendly, courteous. I should definitely mention about Mr. Srinivas, who usually is in Front office. He is very calm, knowledgeable and takes ownership, which is very good. Whether it was cab service or repairing the room phone, he did it promptly and made sure the information reached me without fail. While I was booking my room over mail, he used to promptly reply to all the mails, with all the info I requested. I really appreciate his professionalism. Others too have been quite nice and I really thank them all for making my stay a VERY PLEASANT ONE.

The SAI TOWERS Experience:

As a traveller who has been to most of Europe and Australia, including most parts of India, one of the first things I look for is a clean room. Clean by international standards. I was happy to see that, when I was shown Room 102. Clean, presentable, functional, neat and just right. It was even more of a pleasant surprise because I usually stay in the ashram across.

4 things made my stay indoors a pleasure in late February 2013.
1) The option of warm or fluorescent lighting for both the room and the bathroom – with bulbs that were all working perfectly
2)The above 600 thread-count bedsheets and pillowcases in pristine white – which made sleeping a joy and were tucked and folded correctly, also by international standards
3) The reading light just above my bed with its own switch -- being an avid reader
4) The fluffy super absorbent plush towels in the bathroom.

Given that drinking water is a must in such humid weather it was a pleasant surprise to find that Complimentary clean, purified water is available upon request at no extra charge and is purified at the hotel’s very own water filtering systems. I found the water tasty, just like the water back home and tastes similar to the mineral water sold so you will never feel like you left home.

Being environment conscious I was happy to learn that the hot water, available all day is solar heated through the hotel’s solar panels. The room’s power supply is also set to power saving when the room key is slot out. Hot water is generally hotter during peak hours before darshans though hot water is available 24 hours.

Location is perfect as it is opposite the ashram and with the ashram back gate entrance now open during darshans, entry and exit for darshans is super speedy. Newspapers are provided daily and a flat screen television with cable tv comes at no extra charge with the room. A delightful feature is the one channel that is dedicated to programmes on Sathya Sai Baba only, which is wonderful to tune into when you need to just relax and stay centred, should you miss darshans.

My room also came with a safe and that made it very easy to store valuables with total peace of mind. Should you need to sit and journal, write postcards or jot down your chores, a writing table and chair with top lighting is fitted into the wardrobe, so your memorable moments are cherished. Stationery is your own.

Laundry service is available in 2 speeds – regular and super, and is chargeable accordingly. International and local calls can be made through the receptionist.
Room Service is available daily, and having stayed here about 3 weeks I found that although room service may sometimes be delayed it may also require a second reminder at times. Cleaning can be specified to your needs if notified well in advance. Quality toilet paper, shampoo and ayurvedic soap is provided with house-keeping.
Room Service is available with surcharge on restaurant menu items. Be sure to check on the hours as this is not 24 hours.

Room 102 also faces the main street and while it may provide all day colourful entertainment, sounds and merriment, it may be a little noisy for the light sleeper. As the hotel’s generator is located right outside this room, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you don’t mind a fiddler on the room every now and then. As this was a non-air conditioned room, it would be comfortable for the cooler months but may not be so when the weather is hotter as part of the room window faces other generator fans which emits heat. An added bonus is that rooms come with complimentary breakfast though you may only visit for breakfast once during breakfast hours after which it is chargeable. Be sure to ask for room rates inclusive of tax when making a booking as there are taxes applicable at around 5%.

Last but not least, each room is also lovingly adorned with a framed picture of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a feature which was the icing on the cake for me. Not to be missed is the ceiling view of a picture collection on Baba in sepia tone which lights up at with daylight behind, visible at the lobby when you look up.

Room Tip: Front rooms facing the main road are not that quiet. Ask to see your room of choice if it is availab...

Dear friends, travelers and seekers thru Mother India,

No matter if you are just passing thru or planning a longer stay in a peaceful, nice and neat corner of Puttaparthi, the place of birth and eternal presence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, I recommend the hotel Sai Towers. Hotel is located right opposite the Ashram. While the sound of ancient Vedas fills your room, exceptionally friendly staff is always at your disposal; whether it is the help needed for the continuation of your journey or a late night tea. Special praise goes to chauffeurs and quality cars. If you are traveling alone, they will make sure you feel safe and that nothing is missing. One curiosity of this place is that you can meet some of the oldest devotees of Baba, authors of many books and documentaries about him, people who testify the greatness of Baba's message. The hotel has a restaurant. I recommend the good coffee, pineapple salad, excellent homemade butter, best naan in the village and paneer. Gourmet food, very friendly waiters and adequate cleanness!

All the best,
Asia

The Best I could get in puttaparthi is this hotel great rooms decent customer service. Very friendly staff and this has the best decent affordable AC dining with world cuisine available. Check in and Check out were smooth no hastle gave me a choice of rooms to stay in. I would have given it 5 stars the only reason i deducted 1 was because: They have 2 buildings old and new. New has a lift which makes it easy though the room was standard. The Old Building had a great room but no lift.
But All IN ALL best money can buy in puttaparthi

Room Tip: Request for a room in the Old Building

This is the best hotel in Puttaparthi. Stayed here on 16th April and for a night only. Very clean room , clean bathroom, big and spacious. I had a problem with the room AC and was promptly shifted to a new room. That was good service. The breakfast is good but with very limited options. The cab service is excellent. Walking distance to Prasanti Nilayam is 2 minutes. All local provisions, ATM , pharmacy, vendors and restaurants nearby. This is a good place to stay.
