I spend the week end with my wife at the Camino Real, and was a pleasent stay. Room was excelent in size and very clean. Great view to the mountains. There is a big mall just beside the hotel, so we walk and spend all Saturday at the mall shopping and having lunch and dinner (there is plenty of very good resturants). Pool was very nice and relaxing. Check inn was a little slow, but check out was very easy and fast. They charge for use wifi, expensive....
A nice place to stay and relax at Monterrey. I will recomend to everyone.

Room Tip: Our room was 2202, close to elevators. Some noice late night due to a big wedding party in the first floor of hotel, but nothing that stop our sleeping.

I stayed at the Camino Real Hotel for business recently. I was very impressed with the quality and design of the room. It was very comfortable and relaxing.

Room service was reasonably priced, arrived quickly and was very good.

Check in and check out did take a bit longer than I am used to when travelling for business, but really wasn't too bad.

All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Monterrey Mexico.

My husband and I returned to The Camino Real Hotel and were just as pleased this year as last year. We had a view of the mountains, although a bit obstructed by construction across the street, it was still lovely. We did not hear any construction noise in the mornings. Our block out window blinds worked well to keep the morning sun out, and everything in the room was in working order, clean, and very nice and comfortable. The maid, front desk, waiters, and all other services were excellent. The Mexican culture is much more relaxed that the USA so the timing of when the maids get to your room could be anytime of the day, as well as needing to ask for your check at the restaurants, etc.. As before, we stay away from any mini bar items as they are always over priced in any hotel. We bought water in the connecting mall (5 large bottles for 4.00$) Bice breakfast buffet is wonderful as well as the service! We did not purchase daily internet wifi service, but used the business center computers for apx. 6.00$ an hour......10 minutes only is free, but the internet is very slow sometimes. The attendant was very helpful! Check out took a little bit of time, and we needed to double check that we were not charged for anything that we did not use, which one bottle of gatorade was listed as taken from the mini bar, which we did not touch other then one bottle of water the first day. We also noticed that upon check out, that the actual room cost was going to be more than what our AAA travel discount listed as the rate per night (109$ USD). The room taxes, as well as the conversion to pesos, adds more to the rate per night, so until we see the visa charges in USA dollars on our bill, it was difficult to try to figure out, although the attendant spent much time trying to help us to understand the bill. Plus our visa will tack on an extra 3% international processing fee which we knew about before we left the US. That said, we still feel that the hotel is beautiful, the room very nice, the shower wonderful, the service wonderful, security very good, and we would have paid much more for the same hotel in the USA. We felt the value for dollar spent was still good with the room taxes etc.. The same happened to us in canada as far as room taxes, but we could recoup them at the duty store. We would stay there again, and now being there two times, we did not seem to have the problems that others had. If I was not able to acquire a room that had everything in working order, I would have pulled myself from the hotel and tried "Safi", the new hotel across the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of any of the mountains! Check the room to make sure everything works, including the darkening blinds (there are two kinds of blinds at the windows), plumbing, TV etc.

My only negative was the very slow check in. There was no line and I was helped immediately but the check in was very slow. The other's in my travel party had to wait at least 15 minutes before they were helped. The room was nice and had plenty of room. It was very modern and clean. The hotel is located next to a shopping mall where the entire second floor is open air eating with music. This is a great place to go if you want to experience the local evening activity in Monterrey.

Check-in can be painfully slow. More than once the room I had requested weeks, sometimes months in advance "was not available". This is due to it either not being ready or someone had paid more for it.
Restaurant on the M level is excellent, service superb.
Room service can be a little slow at times.
Housekeeping is extremely slow and unless you request your room made up ealry it may not get done until 5pm.
Check-out is a very long and slow process.

Room Tip: You don't want a room facing the street, lot's of noise from traffic and construction plus the all-night bar on the corner. Best rooms are on 21, pool level.
