“Beautiful Hotel - But No Longer Clean or Maintained”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

The Quinta Real is a very beautiful hotel with pretty rooms and a friendly staff, HOWEVER, the hotel and our room were very dirty. During previously stays at the Quinta Real everything was great but this trip will be our last due to the the lack of cleanliness and the downfall in maintaining the hotel. The carpet in our room was heavily stained, the shower curtain was broken and there was much accumulated grime under the sink that was not cleaned while we were there. The lobby bar is beautiful but slow service these days. The restaurant decor is modern which clashes with the hacienda style of the rest of the hotel. The pool is pretty but oddly placed on the property and without sun. I don't like giving bad reviews so, especially for a property I used to like so, on the more positive, taxis are easy to get and restaurants and shopping are just across the street. If the management would clean up the hotel and monitor the cleaning staff reviews of the property will improve.

Staying the night before in the Quinta Real in Guadalajara the expectations of the Monterrey hotel were not very high to begin with. After arriving at the hotel it started again with the check-in. Not only they tried to check us in at the concierge desk (front desk was busy due to the silly sit down desk arrangement), but after giving all our details, we were asked to move over to the front desk as check-in must be completed there. The entire check-in process took more than 30min which is not acceptable. Again, the sit down desk slowed down everything.

My room was located on the first floor but could only be reached by a long staircase. I had to drag down my bag as there is no elevator going there. After I reached the room I realized that the first floor is also the ground floor and the room. Staying at a hotel for the first time and I think a guest should be asked if they are OK with staying in a room on the ground floor.
Next morning, at the check-out the staff member wasn’t just rude, she also was eating and check-in her cell phone at the desk. They she spoke to one was more like “why are you interrupting me while I am eating and checking my phone”. I made my check-out quick to have as little conversation as possible with her.

I definitely would not recommend the hotel. I was there is a group of colleagues and we all could not agree more to not stay there anymore. This hotel is a bad example of great Mexican hospitality.

I have stayed at the Quinta Real in Monterrey multiple times over the past ten years. It is consistently the best hotel in Monterrey. A beautiful respite from the noise and traffic of Monterrey, yet moments walk or cab ride to superb restaurants, shops, and entertainment. The hotel itself is well maintained for an older property and maintenance is constant but unobtrusive. The property has a wonderful old world design and feel, yet with all of the modern conveniences. Breakfast at the restaurant is fantastic with a great selection of traditional Mexican choices as well as the old standards. The coffee is out of this world and your cup is filled with consistentcy. On the business side, there is a very functional business center with meeting rooms readily available at very reasonable prices. Good pool and cardio gym (they have weights but I can't say it is great for this purpose). One suggestion is to request a lower floor room on the backside of the building (poolside) for the quietiest rooms in the facility. Enjoy Mexico with old world charm at Qunita Real.

My "go to" hotel in Monterrey. I have been visiting this hotel off and on for the past 8 years and have never been disappointed. Safe, unique, luxurious rooms, attentive/friendly staff, and reasonably priced (compared to other hotels in the area). A good base for a business trip and/or, romantic get away.

Me and my wife stayed for one night in this hotel.
The quality of the facilities and the personal was excellent. The room was nice, with a lot of space, clean and ordered. The Salvatore Ferragamo shampoo and conditioner was a plus.
The concierge was really helpful, as we ask for certain arrangements in the room and he accomplished them even better than we asked.
I fully recommend this hotel, specially if you are a foreigner, as its ambiance is fully traditional Mexican luxury style.

Second time at this hotel, very expensive for what you get, everything is old. I´m on the executive building and just next to the air conditioner motors, a lot of noise inside the room, this is not a 250 dollars per night hotel never. Breakfast is very expensive, Internet is U$ 70 for 3 days. For the same money you can get a newer Hotel with much better comfort. Very well located.

High camp, from the scent of the lilies under the dome when you enter, through the stone columns of the patio to the neo-baroque details of the bedrooms, the Quinta Real Monterrey is a period piece, celebrating 1980s style. (In some cases, eg the plastic jacuzzi bath this could do with updating though). Rooms are huge and very comfortable.

I had previously stayed in the Quinta Real in Villahermosa, which is also designed around a patio but it had all the charm of a high security jail. This was a world away from that.

A reasonable breakfast with a classical pianist made this one of the very few hotels I’d like to return to. (That said I think many of the complaints in other reviews are justified and my office had prepaid so I never saw a bill thus I don’t have the full picture.)
