Khimsar Sand Dunes Village

I spent a fair bit of time in the desert and never had much love for sand and the prickly thorns it came with. But the Khimsar Dune resort really does provide a one of a kind experience.

When we got to the hill, we got off the 4WD and hopped onto a Camel Cart for the short trip to our hut. A little man made lake in the center just adds to the ambiance. On the one day I spent there, I must have spent most of it lazing around in the hammock under the shade of the tree. And the rest of it, eating dinner at the hilltop restaurant.

The rooms were cool and comfortable and well equipped. So don't worry about having to 'rough-it' to live among the dunes. The staff was very polite and helpful and added to the overall experience.

The Khimsar Fort is a recently renovated property and despite a lot of work retains its age old feel. The property itself is now well connected by metalled roads and you enter to see the owners impressive collection of vintage cars.

We stayed on the second floor which did provide a nice view of the surrounding area. But the elevator stopped working twice during out stay so that can make it difficult for older partrons. The rooms themselves were huge and airy. With Digital TV and enough electric outlets you can get all your devices charged while catching up with any TV shows you may have missed.

Do try and eat a meal at the restaurant in the burnt out ruins at the Hotel. One of a kind experience.

This is a pearl in the Thar! Service is great, the setting awesome and the sunrise and sunset take you to a different world. It is worth a 2 nights stay in this village, which makes you feel you are in the lap of nature!! Was a great experience for me.

It was a fabulous experience to sleep in the desert (for sure with all the accomodations of luxurious rooms with air-conditioner). We could choose our room because there were only another couple. The room was clean and very quiet. The perfect place to stay and to stay quiet. The personal was very nice. We could eat outside in the desert with a very good food. It was realy like a dream. If you have to choose between another hotel, go in the Khimsar Sand Dunes Village. Do not hesitate to live this experience.

Went there for a business conference , the overall experience unforgettable
Rooms were as if you are treated like a king , big , spacious and comfortable
Location though a little bit remote but once you are inside the Hotel is a great experience
I had wonderful experience with food , Spa , swimming pool , inside shopping and the music in the evening
The sand dune experience at night as well as sunrise was breathtaking

Room Tip: Rooms facing swimming pool are great

Khimsar fort visit/stay of 2 nights turned out to be the only low point of our 10 days Rajasthan trip. Once part of fort, the hotel has been named as Khimsar fort, but is nothing but 3 star hotel with pathetic service. only good thing about this hotel is the one building (ruin) where the dinner is served at night. Otherwise a Complete No hotel from my side.

We visted this place last year. We were four adults with 2 young kids.
This fort hotel is a wonderful exprience.
It has a nice swimming pool, open to sky and usable at night. Since we went during off season, it was not very crowded and service was good.
They organise dances, puppet and magic shows in the evening. The kids enjoyed the magic.
The best part was the dinner atop the fort, with folk music sounds from the surrounding hamlets.
There is not much to do here during the day. You can go the see the blackbuck by driving through the countryside. The animal is really worth seeing! Also, you could see the sunset by the sand dunes. The desert sand is worth experiencing. You can pick some very exclusive stuff made by the local people supported by the Nila moti trust-their work was an eye opener and inspiring.

Good place for groups. If you are small family, it may be too lonely to stay in the middle of the desert.

Room Tip: Good place to unwind- away from gizmos and malls
