The lodge and cabins were thoughtfully designed and are well-maintained. They have quite a bit of property, including a pier over the lake, a swimming pool, and a hot tub, and walking around the well-maintained grounds is interesting and relaxing. Stayed in one half of a duplex cabin. Spacious with comfortable bed and sitting area. Food was good and staff was friendly. Under new management in 2015/16.

We stayed two nights in this lodge. The accommodation was delightful. Lovely big split level room with views to the lake. The food however was disappointing, bland and expensive for what you got. We also asked if we could take our own wine into dinner and when we came to pay for our stay they charged what we thought was extremely high corkage.

Room Tip: All the cabins have good views. I believe there are self catering units as well if you prefer to do your own thing. Personally I would opt for that as their food is not particularly good.

Inbetween Puyuhuapi and La Junta we stayed in El Pangue in a cabin near Risopatron Lake in a beautiful setting. It was quite far from the town Puyuhuapi which we passed through on our way to the lodge so we decided to use our extra day here as a day off. We did not regret this decision although it meant we could not visit Ventisquero Colgante in the Queulat national park which was about 70 kilometers away on the worst part of the Carretera Austral. It is a good place to relax en walk two trails which start from the hotel. Our cabin had a nice bay window with a lot of windows so we could enjoy the view. In the cabin was everything we could possibly need, including internet, and the restaurant had good meals for acceptable prices. Staff spoke English well. Payments can be made by creditcard.

Room Tip: In our opinion, take a cabin instead of a hotelroom. Gives more space and feels like a cottage in the woods....

We stayed only one night and that is too short for such a nice place where you can relax, walk on the 'sendero' starting in the park (for 3 hours), kayak, and fish. When arriving we went for a swim in the heated pool, very relaxing, we switched with the hot water tub. The water of the tub was too hot. The piscine and the hot tub are heate with wood. 'Staff was very helpfull. The dinner at the restaurant was very good and also the breakfeast. The cabana was superb. No intermediate reservation company pushed the price up.

We arrived early evening for a one night stopover pre-season, after 70k of roadworks on the Carretera Austral. So neither we nor El Pangue were at our best. The cabin was superb; very comfortable and with great views. The staff in general were friendly. But the evening meal was a disappointing selection of food from the freezer, some of which was barely thawed. Breakfast was fine. I guess we were a bit jaded and a bit unlucky.
