The Skyrail is a unique experience that takes you through the rainforest and to the small tourist town of Kuranda. It's a good time and there are some things to do in Kuranda, mostly shopping and eating. Do not plan to stay the whole day though, a half day is really all you need.

The Skyrail is one of those must do things in Cairns. Great views of the rainforest and coast. Enjoyable walks in the rainforest between stages and some magnificent views to the Barron Falls. Combine this with the Kuranda Scenic Railway to make a good day of it.

We got the last transfer from Cairns, they warned us on the phone that we wouldn't get much time in Karanda, which is fine, but they rushed us back down the mountain because they wanted to close the cable car down for the day and we had to wait 40+mins for our transfer back to Cairns. Overall very good, great views, just need to time their return transfers better.

Hi 73Ant,

Thank you for providing your feedback on your recent visit to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.

Skyrail’s comprehensive shuttle bus timetable allows our guests the flexibility to select a pick-up time which best suits their needs for a half or full day rainforest experience. I am pleased to hear that our staff informed you regarding the shorter amount of time that would be available to you in Kuranda Village. A one-way Skyrail experience takes approximately 90 minutes (which includes 20 minutes spent at each of our mid-stations in the rainforest) and our operational timings are designed to provide for the 90 minutes for the Skyrail experience and then for guests to connect seamlessly with the return shuttle bus services.

I note your comments about feeling “rushed” during your experience and these comments have been forwarded to Skyrail’s General Manager and Operations Manager for further attention.

Thank you once again for your comments and we do hope to see you again one day in Tropical North Queensland.

We enjoyed the ride and was good value for money. It is best as part of round trip with scenic train - best to take train up in morning as cooler in carriages. Also recommend doing the butterfly house at Kuranda, one of our highlights in 3 weeks in Australia. Finding Kauri trees on interpretative walk at one of the changeover stations was a surprise! A great day.

WE took this 40 minute tour into the rainforest, guided by Zane, a local fellow from the area. He was so kind (we had a large older group) and very informative. Excellent value. Highly recommended. You will not be dissappointed.
