“Very basic, not so clean but nice staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2012

This place was pretty basic. They only had electricity for a few hours in the evening via a generator, though we were the only guests there so maybe they have it on for longer when it is busy. It was very very cold at night (we did stay in the middle of January though!) I guess the buildings are made so they get rid of heat in the summer, so this isn’t really a negative if you stay when it’s hot. Our main problem was that it was dirty. The bed sheets were stained and full of holes and we weren’t sure if they had been cleaned since the last guests so we slept in our sleeping bags. It was probably the dirtiest place we stayed at during our 6 weeks in India, but still liveable if you aren’t the pickiest person in the world. The staff were very nice and friendly. We also stayed at Dhikala, which we preferred.

We visited Gairal after we stayed at Dhikala inside the park. While Dhikala is the only place which has 24 hours electricity, Gairal has only 3 hours of the same. There are only 8 rooms and hence these fill up fast. The rest house is right next to the river and hence you might be lucky to spot a crocodile.

Gairal is great if you want to sit with a book for hours together and enjoy the flaura and fauna + sound of the river water gushing through, else nothing much to do, not a place easily accessible for safaris either.

Wonderful amazing and anything above it. soltitudeand just u want after hustling and bustling busy metro life. sit out and enjoy sounds of nature. a two floor villa to enjoy with u r loved ones. no electricity, just a genset for 1800 to 2100 hrs. amazed with the sounds and the refreshing air. combine it with dhikala stay and feel on the top of the world or spend a lot for the equivqlent alternatives (my other stays). ............nnn........joy........
