Corbett Tiger Den Resort
Reviewed December 22, 2012

I and a team of 20 trainees visited the resort in the 2nd week of Dec.2012.The rooms were large and airy and the toilets had hot water. The power backup was prompt and we never had to wait more than a few seconds for the power from the D.G. set. The staff is courteous and the food is great. The hotel arranged for a special BBQ evening by the poolside for us.The hotel is located near the attractions like Baraati falls and the other falls. There is a good enough liquor shop only half a km from here. The hotel gives guides for jungle treks and there is a trail leading to the hillock just behind the property which gives great views and a good trek.

The balconies had some pigeon droppings and the hotel needs to clean them. The room cleaning also needs to be done twice a day.
overall a satisfying experience
The hotel is a bit far from the gate of the forest and so we had to start early to catch the morning light. This is one draw back but it is made up by the good service at the hotel.

Stayed at the resort during our trip to Jim Corbett. It's a nice property with very well behaved staff. Should make special mention here of Mr. Kandhari (a south-Delhi businessman and owner of the resort) who was very warm and welcoming. The food happens to be the USP of the resort. Although the property is large, the garden is not very well maintained. Nevertheless, we had a very good time during our stay.

We stayed here during our trip to Jim Corbett.

1) Location: This is the biggest disadvantage of this resort. This is located 13 kms from Ramnagar on Nainital highway. If required, hotels arrange for pickup from Ramnagar station (for a charge of Rs.500). For booking the safari you need to go to Ramnagar. Jim Corbett entry gate is also 22 kms from Ramnagar in the opposite direction. So you end up travelling 35 kms for the safari...and it takes around 50 mins to cover this 35km distance from Hotel to Jim Corbett. Hence, before booking your stay, its advisable to check with the resort on how far it is from Ramnagar town.

If you are planning to stay here for 2 or 3 days, a good idea would be to also plan a trip to Nainital/Bhimtal for a day.

2) Place and facilities: The resort was pretty good in terms of facilities. It has 24 rooms. Rooms have AC, Geyser etc and are pretty clean. Beds and large and comfortable.

3) Food: Our package included all meals and tea and snacks in the morning and evening. The lunch and dinner is served in the dining room. Room service is also available. The spread was pretty good and included soup, salads, 3-4 vegetables and desserts.

4) Spa: Our package also included couple-spa treatment for 30 mins. But unfortunately their spa was not operational. I had to speak to their owner (Mr. Kandhari) and he was gracious enough to waive off Rs.1000 for the same. However, it would be a good idea to actually check with the resort if a certain facility is available (i did my booking through makemytrip.com and they had advertised this all inclusive package eventhough spa was not available at the resort)

5) Other amenities: This place is totally cut off from Ramnagar and there is nothing to see outside the resort nor is anything available. So it is advisable to carry things related to any specific needs/medicines etc without fail. There are public transport buses that ply between Ramnagar and this place (frequency of twice an hour and they run from 6am-6pm only)

We booked the resort in advance and planned to reach there early morning by car, don't know which wrong cut we made and lost in between.... The hotel staff was so good that they started following us much before the time and helped us reached them easily. I am sure of my own I could not reach them.... Though they are in outskirt along with many other resorts..good part is place is good, cottage are big enough though infra is not very good [onida ac and tv] yet everything was in working condition in both the cottage we had taken... We had taken a package deal with food too...so right after reaching there they asked us to come to the restaurant for food... There was another big group of 20+ odd people also in the restaurant and perhaps they were not used to this much crowd and we had to wait for 20-30 min even to get the water.... We were having 3 kids of the age group of 3-5 and was worried if they would like the food. Ultimately food came and yes it was yummy.... and they also given us enough variety too to choose from..... Sameway Food was always excellent not just in taste but in quality also whether it was in dinner or breakfast....

For play they have tt table and two swimming pool... It was may'12 and our kids along with us were in pool most of the time.... when in hotel....mind big pool is hard 5.5' ft and due to color of water look v deep. .... pl don't try to jump...it may b dangerous.... Cottage are surrounded by full of mango and litchi trees nice ambiance.

They can arrange you the zeep for tour in forest...You will not find animals but the scenic view of the forest is memorable and worth going.... pl better go for dhikala etc as sitabani...where we went was almost animal less but view was excellent.... nearby water fall and museum is another b'ful place you can visit by your car....

Room Tip: I preferred first floor as you get a good view.

We have booked this hotel as it was free with one of my restaurant membership card package. Since the date i chose for stay were on a long weekend, the hotel said that they are sold out but when i enquired by other name they replied with affirmative availibilty status.

A little arm twisting and i got the reservation. The place bail parao is actually off from the reserve. So no matter how far & wide you go for tracking, you might not see any animal.

The rooms are specious but don't expect a quick room service. Food is good but too expensively priced.

Pool side is good to spend the evening.

Overall i think its overally priced and suggest book with all meal plan and try only you are a hard negotiator.

Room Tip: I Stayed in Talla, it was good
