“a Beautiful Heritage hotel”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

An amazing heritage hotel, with large, stunning rooms. It has beautiful decor, with great traditional artwork. Traditional Indian dancing on the rooftop, and a great swimming pool. The bathrooms are large, adequate, but faded glory!! The staff were very helpful.

After being dropped off by our tour bus, we walked the final short distance down lanes to experience a small town with traditional vendors and the colorful shop fronts, we were surprised to enter the white washed walls of this palace. After an Indian welcome we were shown our room, which was very large and the bathroom even larger, all decorated in blue and white. After our jeep ride into the countryside we loved the swim in the large clear swimming pool. At night we had a cooking demonstration from the lovely ladies of the palace and then dinner on the roof with entertainment and fireworks, ending a great stay here.

WE stayed here in Feb/March this year and were greeted by the manager whom was one of the most helpful people I have met. Nothing to small or large was handled there and then. The room was very large and the only problem was the electrics but we overcame that. The manager even took us on a village tour personally and then on a safari to a beautiful lake where we had tea and watched the sunset. The staff too were impeccable. The food, fantastic, the entertainment very good and fireworks. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere so do not expect it to be palatial but enjoy every minute while you are there. It is a truly magical experience.

We stayed for two nights, booked by Voyage Jules Verne. We were met by 3 beautifully dressed ladies who marked our foreheads with a spot of red as a sign of welcome. Complimentary drinks were given to us too. The palace is designed around the courtyard, where there is a swimming pool where I later cooled off. Our room was huge & I think most of our 3 bed bungalow would have fitted in. There was an imposing double door with brass hinges & locks leading into a spacious foyer. There was a lounge area, about 35 feet long & through double arches was the bedroom area. Our twin beds were 4 feet wide & very comfortable. The room was delicately painted in local style. We had an excellent dinner with musical entertainment, but breakfast needed more variety eg. not just bananas as fruit & some outside walls were grubby looking.

Room Tip: Arrive early perhaps.

Quite basic in many respects but comfortable, nonetheless. If you're used to five star marble and lots of polished surfaces, might be better to pass on this. Nimaj Palace is delightful, full of character with architecture and design similar to Exotic Marigold. Tremendous staff, warm welcome and attentive service throughout.
You leave with a bullock cart ride through village probably more for the entertainment of local villagers than anything else.

It's all I thought it should, not five star but a real jewel! The room was great staff fantastic, the sort of place you remember long after your home. Dinner on the roof, it's a long way up, with a dancer and fireworks finished of a great day. Then an Ox cart ride through the village to our coach was great. If you get the chance take an escorted evening walk through the village.
