Came to Koh Jum following a recommendation from a friend who regularly stays on the island. He described this island perfectly "if you want to just relax for a few days and read a book, eat some good food and soak up the sun then this is the place" Koh Jum Resort is everything my wife and I wanted, it ticked all the boxes. After reading some reviews complaining about wifi etc I found that statement rather odd as for me Wi-Fi signal isn't top priority while on holiday (however I found the signal to be excellent during our stay). We found the food good and yes probably slightly more expensive than other places but there isn't much choice on this island so if you want variety then try elsewhere. We stayed in superior ocean view which has a great Thai rustic charm with aircon and a mini fridge, good shower and tv. The staff are very friendly and arranged our transfer from krabi airport and then onto Koh Lanta a few days later. We stayed 5 days for 4 nights...that is enough here. Reading other negative reviews I feel I must come out in defence of this resort and state our experience was a positive one.

The best vacation I've ever had. So peaceful and quiet. Food is great, pool is great, and you have to take the island tour. The waters around the resort are some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Room tip: All the rooms are great as they are private huts.

The only few things that were good about this hotel was the beach and food were okay.

Firstly we are in low season so maybe this could contribute to the low rating but make the judgement for yourselves.
The standard room is very very basic, but you do get a good view of the sea. We also stayed in the air conditioned room and this was much better, so if booking in advance I would go for this option.
Now for the cons...
Unlike they advertise there is currently no WiFi in the rooms, it’s broken, and doesn’t seem to be getting fixed anytime soon! However instead of telling us this when we checked in, we found out for ourselves and when we asked they just acted as if ‘duh obviously’ as if there weren’t meant to be WiFi in the rooms? There is some (very very limited) WiFi in the reception area.

The food is okay, a little more pricey than other areas of Thailand but they do have you quite literally trapped in the hotel. There is nowhere you can go for a walk or a night time stroll, even if you do hire a scooter and make it to the top of the very muddy and a little dangerous hill there isn’t really a town per say, so you are really trapped inside this hotel. Also breakfast is okay, if a little basic.

While we were there so much construction was going on, it really did disrupt you while having lunch and on the beach etc.

The beach itself isn’t really anything to rave about for an island, if you are looking for really clear waters then you’ll be disappointed.

I really think it’s worth spending your money somewhere else in Thailand!

We stayed on this beautiful small island for 3 nights. Very relaxing atmosphere. Resort was quite basic; simple teak wooden cottages, basic breakfast, limited wifi, outdated pool. Beautiful setting overlooking the beach and ocean. They charged quite premium rates also for airport pick up and snorkeling tours but more importantly resort is not run well. During check in we were told that family cottage we booked was not available (they were still building it!) and they offered two separate 2 person cottages which does not work with young kids. Manager could not come up with solution so ultimately we moved into 2 person cottage with the four of us. The 50% discount he offered got reduced to 30% during check out which we didn’t accept. Rest of the staff is clearly not happy to work under this management. Such a pity!

Our journey to Koh Jum was a bit of a rocky one.

We left Railey to Koh Jum in low season. Due to our own lack of organisation we missed the boat from Railey straight to Koh Jum, very early in the morning, bookable from most hotels. DO THIS! We ended up long tailing back to Ao Nang, taxi to the port, and local ferry from there. What an adventure. But I guess that is Thailand for you - Lovely people along the way - Can I just note how lovely the Thai people are.

Koh Jum itself is beautiful. True island feel, very laid back.

Koh Jum Resort is accessible via a dirt road off the main road, bit touch and go after the rain on a scooter. Take some decent closed shoes which you don't mind getting muddy if you do this.

The Resort itself did not disappoint. Very friendly staff, quaint accommodation on the edge of a hill with the most fantastic views over the sea.

We stayed in one of the Seaview Teak Wood houses, I would pay a bit more to stay in a different room type with air con and a bit of a better bathroom - to be honest this is the only thing that brought down the rating. A fan in the bathroom, some better ventilation would not go a miss! Also was quite loud at night in this room type due to animals, very thin walls - literally bamboo, I think we heard alot of cat mating ha ha. But our view was truly insane, which is why I booked that room type. So depends what you prioritize.

Breakfast pretty basic, but OMG the cocktails amazing, try the Pino colada, also the dinner menu - get the Massaman Curry You will not regret!!! Drool worthy. Best one we had in Thailand.

Beach here is decent for swimming and lounging, but not as clear as other parts in Koh Jum. For swimming head to FU Bar - the beach in front of this is to die for. Also the Southern tip, some great hidden beaches.

Koh Jum Resort also good for families, there were a few there when we stayed. I would be happy to stay here with children as it felt very safe.

Do note Koh Jum really does shut down in low season. We will be back bit in should or high season. And will be staying here again 100% as the staff and the atmosphere made our trip to Koh Jum :) Thank you for the lovely visit!!
