We went with our children (13, 10 and 1) and we spent a wonderful 12 days at Koh Jum Lodge.

I want to thank Jean-Michel, Jane, Thierry and all the team for being so friendly and professional. The all place was always immaculate and with a very relaxed ambience. The beach is amazing and the food excelent (best restaurant in the island). They also have a pool, used mostly by the kids.

If you are looking for amazing sunsets, beautiful deserted beaches, excelent food and for a friendly and relaxed atmosfere, this is the place!

This place is really lovely and they serve you really good food! We had the seafood plate for two and it was awsome! You can sit right on the beach under beautiful lamps hanging in the trees! Just brilliant! Was like paradise! The owner is French and strange at the beginning...but not unfriendly - just french! The prices for the bungalows are a little bit high for Koh jum so I can really recommend you yo stay in the season bungalow resort next door - nice bungalows, friendly stuff and good food too! Enjoy thailand!

The arrival by longtail boat sets the expectations for this wonderful beach front resort. Upon arrival staff and Jean-Michel the owner came to meet the boat and the cases very quickly taken ashore. Once the welcomes were over it was time to view the beautiful bungalows. Jean-Michel took us to our beachfront accommodation and he is rightfully very proud of the resort. The bungalows are built on stilts and I would say every single one has a sea view due to the lay out of them. The design of the bungalows ensure every breathe of wind from the sea cools them, without airconditioning there is however ceiling fans and a free standing fan in all the bedrooms if required
There is seating areas both inside and on the veranda of each bungalow, the bed is beautifully adorned by mosquito nets which are closed by the staff every evening.
The quality of food in the restaurant ensures you dont wonder off to try food anywhere else, you spend all day on your sunbed wondering what delight you will eat in the evening and usually have to give in and go eat something at lunch time, which following the lovely breakfast is not really required, and whilst you are there a coconut shake is a must.
The resort has a beautiful swimming pool which seems to have very little use as the beach is heavenly and so quiet. There is plenty of opportunity to walk, we set off for the small town and would have made it quite comfortably but one of the local tuktuk taxi's insisted on giving us a free lift as he was going in the same direction. There are a few local shops where you can buy bottles of beer to top up the fridge in your room and buy small provisions and some restaurants if you do fancy a change.
There is a small travel agent up the beach which does snorkel day trips etc and a few massage places including one on site. Next time we go we promise ourselves we will tear ourselves away and take a moped to explore the island which I think can be hired from the resort.
THREE TRAVEL TIPS - take a kettle if you like to make a hot drink, and a hairdryer if you really cannot live without one and finally book for as long as possible because you really will not want to leave

From the minute we approached the beach at koh jum lodge in our long tail boat transfer we had a good feel about the stay. The welcome is professional and personal and we were made to feel at home easily. Our beach front lodge was a magical experience spotlessly clean and elevated above the gardens it was an exciting and relaxing place to stay all in one. The security of the property took a bit of getting used to as there was no need to shut the doors or windows but it was great to listen to the gentle sound of the sea as you lay in bed. We ate in the restaurant every night because the menu changes every day and the quality of the food was excellent. Lunches were also excellent and the shakes and fruit drinks were superb. The restaurant was more expensive than most other places we have eaten at in Thailand but for us the quality of the food outweighed this. Also as the week went on our hosts were generous with their hospitality with complimentary drinks. I think we had only two minor complaints. Number one was that the rooms did not have coffee/ tea making facilities and we do like a cuppa ! Next time we would take a travel kettle. Number two complaint was that we had to leave!

We would like to thank Jean-Michel, his wife Jane and their charming team for the wonderful and relaxed time we had at their lodge. They were always there if you needed help. After the well organized airport transfer we (two couples) had a warm welcome at the boat and our host personally showed us our spacious beachfront bungalows. Our secret fear that without air conditioning it might get too hot inside was needless. The architecture was airy (the windows without glass) and it was wonderful to fall into sleep under the mosquito net with a the light breeze coming from the sea and directly through the open windows. The bungalows as well as the open restaurant with the bar and library corner are beautifully decorated, the bathrooms with wooden showers are well maintained and clean. E.g. one of the many nice detail is that all electric cables in the buildings are covered by bamboo strips. Hammocks are not only found on the personal veranda but all over the place. Among the palm trees there are deck chairs, and small shady pavilions to enjoy magnificent views of the sea and especially the amazing sunsets over Koh Phi Phi that can be seen at the horizon. The beach is clean and even at low tide it is possible to swim in front of the resort so we did not try the pool.
Thanks to the (still) small number of resorts we never experienced such empty beaches during high season time. Visitors should be well aware that the small villages on the island are still mainly inhabited by the local fishermen and the tiny shops offer little more than their daily supply. The locals are very friendly and curious. When we explored the island on bicycles we sometimes felt like attractions ourselves as there were people and children coming along to have a look at us visitors. In the villages you may get some food, sunscreen, mosquito shield and beach equipment but that's all. Needless to say that we did not miss none of the typical tourist places and shops. Thank's to the lodge's wonderful restaurant with the great choice of Thai and Western dishes - and the changing special offers of the day - we only now and then passed at other restaurants or bars of the neighboring resorts or in the village.
There are some free bikes at the lodge that can be lent for small excursions. If you like long beach walks you may take a tuc tuc to return for little money. One of the highlights was the daylong snorkel trip on a longtail boat to the nearby islands of Koh Phi Phi, Mosquito and Bamboo island. Also on this trip we profited from Jean Michel's perfect organization which includes that the boat was exclusively for us. There were beach towels, snorkel equipment and there was a picnic at a small beach that was served with a small table and a beach mattress. All these tiny details make the difference from the many other crowdy excursion boats that can be seen floating those islands. If you should get a stiff neck from snorkeling you may drop in at one of the massage places that are run in almost every resort. We checked the one at Koh Jum Lodge and at the Koh Jum Beach Villas next door which I preferred. Also the ladies there speak English and therefor were able to communicate about preferences.
This resort is certainly a bit pricier than most other resorts. Compared to those bargain places with more than basic facilities that are still existing around this place is worth every extra cent!

When you get there, on boat directly on the beach in front of the lodge, you know that you have come to the right place.

The bungalows are really beautiful, comfortable and nicely decorated and the beach view from the balcony is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent, especially the suggested fish meals that are different every day. Finally, the whole island is very peaceful and allows you to quietly enjoy the charms of southern Thailand.

We stopped here on the last stretch of our honeymoon and it was wonderful to forget time. Jean Michel personally greeted us as we got off the longtail boat and showed us to our ocean-view bungalow. At first I was wondering, "Where is the TV? Where is the air conditioner?" But after one night, I embraced the whole point of this eco-resort: unplug, read and relax in the hammock! Sure we could have paid the same for a developed resort, but that would have meant sharing the beach with hordes of tourists. Sure we could have found cheaper eats, but that would be missing out on coconut shakes, which I had pretty much every day. I had the best fried fish I had in a long while. And the lodge has one of the nicest stretches of beach on the island.
