“a good way to spend some time”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Its an interesting place...plenty to see and do, we especially liked the 549 steps to the peak. It was a wet day but no worry plenty of small shelters. Interesting to see all the fiberglass replicas of dinosaurs. Also interesting to grab a few photos at the park about 2-3 klm out of town. There is food and drink available and a temple plus a small monks settlement at the top of the hill. The views from the hill and the climb up and down are very nice. One point there is an admittance fee(s) and they are more for foreigners than Thais! Not good PR.

“The main thing to see in the area.”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

It's clear some money has gone into the main museum. Good (but not very good) English, a logical approach to the sciences, and a field-trip and handicapped-friendly layout gets people around the museum. I remain miffed at *any* place that charges more for foreigners (you pay 2 1/2 times more than a Thai person if you let them get away with it) so it loses a star for that.

Compared to the museum, the Excavation Site is nothing special - I can see why none of the field trips we passed in the museum (or were ahead of us) didn't head inside. This is the real excavation site, complete with uncovered fossils still in the ground. While understandably left open-air, the signage is all in Thai and feels much older than the museum. It's as though they spent all their money on the museum while the excavation site was hurriedly done up as an afterthought.

“Something Different”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

Best to go during school holidays as this is a prime attraction for bus loads of children during term time. Entry used to be free but alas no longer. Useful for those interested in fossils, dinosaurs and the development of humans. A working laboratory for the study of dinosaur bones from around the world is worth a view. Many reconstructions on show and photography allowed.
There is a restaurant availble and a garden area with many lifelike dinosaurs.

“A pleasant interlude into the past”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The Sirindhorn museum as a pleasing array of mock dinosaur bones and interesting displays in air conditioned comfort whereas the excavation site several Km's away is a little rustic.
