“Lake to remember”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Our visit to this beautiful lake, that looked quite different to those idealistic photos, was wonderful. We lunched with Tajiks and then walked part way around the lake. I wish I'd had time to walk right around it. It is pristine high country surrounded by dramatic mountains, small herds of sheep, large herds of yak and delightful locals. We travelled with Old Road Tours and were therefore lucky to avoid the touristy yurts visited by other companies.

“check the weather first”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

we drove there on the way to tashkorgan and the weather was starting to change, so we got to see some of the mountain only. the next day we were planning to stay in Yurt on the lake, but the weather changed and snowned, so the lake was very dark and cloudly. We did have a great local lunch in one for the Yurts, next to the main entrance to the lake.

Well worth staying in a yurt and booking through a good guide service in Kashgar and taking a multi-day road trip.
