Near the down down Kashgar or Kashi. Looks great and modern from the outside. Hot water is not functioning. Air conditioning is set at 28 Celsius and can not be changed. Hardly any english speaking staff, They say the have a busniness center but in fact there is none. You get unsollicitaded call from escort girl in the middle of the night. Hotel is also home of Karoke night club.

The hotel well located in the city center. It is showing its age and the rooms feel like 3 star. but comfortable and quite acceptable. Much better than the so-called 5 star Yin Rui Lin hotel at the other end of the city.

Our bedroom was large, with a spacious view, but the sliding glass shower screen in the bathroom did not close completely, and there were no coat hangers in the wardrobe. The complimentary bottles of water were appreciated, but they were not replenished the next day. According to the notice in the lift, the Business Centre was to be found on the 1st floor, but in fact it did not exist. I asked for beer, pointing to the Chinese characters in the bar menu, and was offered tonic water. No one on the front desk spoke English, and written instructions in English were virtually incomprehensible. Bread, butter and jam were available at breakfast, but you had to be quick: the butter and jam soon went, and were not replaced until somebody asked. The coffee was undrinkable. This is a hotel which evidently aspires to excellence, but falls well short. The checkout procedure was chaotic.

The glass doors in the bathrooms are terribly dangerous and our busted into thousand pieces when my wife manipulated the door in a normal way. The reaction of the hotel management was of great concern for the broken door but they did not even helped my injured wife. We lost our night rest and a part of the next day because of this management who even called the police when we refused to pay for the broken glass door. What kind of staff puts a (unsafe) door above the safety and health of his guests? Instead of asking us to pay for their mistakes, they should have helped us. It was a horrible experience to see that a guest is worth nothing in this hotel and that we missed a great part of our program. Especially bitter if you travel half around the world for such a treatment. The hotel may look nice but the management is simply not capable of running a hotel.

I was originally booked in another hotel, which was described by older reviewers as the best hotel in Kashgar, but got spooked by the reviews. This hotel is newer then those reviews.

Shenhang, short for Shenzhen Airlines, hotel is a good four star hotel. For Kashgar, it is probably great. The breakfast is fine, although typically for Chinese hotels, a little light on the meat.

Judging by the other reviews, the service is probably correlated to the attitude of the guest. I asked the location of the Sunday livestock market, politely, and two staff took time out to make phone calls, then draw the approximate location on the map. I was impressed.

The location is fine. It is within walking distance of the old town, and there are lively markets and restaurants nearby, as well as the beautiful Donghu and People's park.

I like this hotel a lot. I believe that most visitors to Kashgar will benefit by staying here.

We stayed at this hotel while in Kashgar because we were told it is the only 5-star hotel in the city. While the hotel is newer and the rooms are better appointed than other hotels (such as Tianyun), the staff are clueless and the service is extremely poor, particularly for a hotel in China (our experience, in terms of service and hotel hospitality, has otherwise always been very good when travelling in China). Buffet breakfast mediocre but probably better than most for Kashi. No gym facilities.

I was looking forward to Kashgar, and while a beautiful place it was certainly affected by such a poor hotel. Sadly I am told this is one of the newer ones and considered one of the best. The building looks and feels much older than it is, but mostly it is let down by staff.

Front Desk: The front desk speak little English when you are asking questions, however it improves greatly when they want you to pay something or are looking for a tip. Mostly staff are just indifferent. I think they focus on Chinese clients as their main business and simply see non-Chinese as a burden. Checking out the girl left me repeatedly to deal with Chinese customers even though she knew I was rushing to the airport. She tried to completely ignore our local guide.

Breakfast: My wife and I often go down to breakfast separately, she likes to go first and then get ready, I like to grab something as we dash out. As the room came with two complimentary breakfasts each day we thought no issue. Not here. Unless you breakfast together they want to charge you an extra 78rmb for a second breakfast. Our local guide got involved in the debate one day and only after his involvement did they relent for that day. After this we had to breakfast together. Breakfasts were mostly chinese style, cold and black coffee was a special order.

Rooms: Room Service is really poor. During our five day stay our rubbish bin was only emptied on the last day, even when pointed out, and the sheets were never changes or room vacuumed. The bathroom was given a modest clean each day, but toilet paper was overlooked and wet floor mats ignored. The wet floor mat was always going to be an issue as the shower design in our room was a sliding glass door that sat outside the shower tray area and left around 1 cm clearance at the bottom and around 8cm gap down the side. If the shower door was open, then you had difficulty using the toilet as it blocked access and leg room.

Also if you want to go out for the day and not have your room made over - good luck. There is a little red light you switch on that shows outside your door and says "do not disturb" brightly - sadly though this is linked to your room key so if you go out and take your door key (as you do), all the power in the room goes out a few minutes later, along with the little light.

Facilities: These are very few. No gym, pool, or business centre that I could find. It does have free Wi-Fi, but this again is not reliable. Probably the biggest annoyance was the nightclub on the third floor. Drunken guests leave late at night barging into rooms and yelling in corridors. Once in the rooms, they are loud, inconsiderate and apparently smoke. You can smell the smoke either through the walls or ceilings - whichever you know when someone is smoking next door. Also Wednesday night is Karaoke night and worth avoiding, we knew this as it could be heard and felt clearly on the 7th floor long past midnight.

Worst though was the air conditioning or lack of it. I woke every day with a headache and having to open windows to get air in. Our air con was set to 15 degrees and according to the aircon it never fell below 25 degrees and was often over 28 degrees. It flows stale air and at times made breathing hard. You had to open windows to get fresh air. Our guide tried to arrange someone to look at it and even when promised visits by staff they just never turned up.

Not an enjoyable stay and I would definitely try another hotel next time.

Room Tip: Try another hotel unless you are Han Chinese
