I didn't want to pay more to stay at a "better" hotel in Kashgar because it sounded like they're not much better even if they're 3 stars. Booked on their site and saved 9 RMB (this is a hotel chain) for 180 RMB for a single room (double bed).
The room was basic and banal. Some room are bigger than the other by 50%, so hope you get lucky. Shampoo and soap come in a dispenser on the wall of the shower. Towels are old, bed is hard, AC is strong. Free internet. Smell of smoke everywhere in the hall way, elevator, lingers in some rooms (even the non-smoking rooms, which they didn't want to assign one to me for some reason even it was what I booked. Their answer was that they all smell like smoke, it doesn't matter.)
Many Chinese tourists stay there and from what I understand, most of them seem to have no plan of how long they want to stay, so they just show up. Also strangely many single men there just staying one day at a time as they go. When I was there, the whole town was booked full and I was glad I made reservations.
Location-wise, it's close to the Aitiga'er Mosque. Take the road across the street (slightly to the right when you exit the hotel) and walk for 5-10 minutes. There is a couple of big supermarkets when you turn right and walk to the round-about (the nice one is in the basement of the nice mall).
There is a deposit when you check in, so I had to give her 700 RMB for the 3 nights we were there which was 540 RMB. You will get the difference back when you check out.
