“Great atmosphere and top class dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

This is a value for money hotel, with great atomsphere, service minded staff and dinner in the evening of top class. A perfect combination of hotel and you own cottage. No doubt, this will be our choice next time we come back to Serre Chevalier. Thanks to Tina and her great staff!

We spent a big family Christmas in one of the Maison du Bez - apartments last Christmas. We had a fantastic week and will certainly come back this year ! Althoug the apartments are independent of the Hotel, we often went to the hotel for dinner and sit in the lounge-area. The food is excellent, I still dream of the marinated herring, the lounge is very cosy with its open fire. The hotel seems to be a hangout for keen skiers, staff included and the location is clearly one of the hotels main assets. I don´t ski myself, due to "old" age, so instead I spent the days with our toddler grandkids. One of them went to ski-club just down the road. The Hotel is not upmarket like the flats are, but it certainly has lots of character and plenty of personal ambience.

We stayed her for a short skiing break whilst visiting a member of the family who was working in the resort. The hotel is quirky and individual. I don't think it would be to everyones taste , but we certainly enjoyed our stay. Tina the owner, makes her quests very welcome . It definatetly has a home from home feel . The hotel is small and cosy with a roaring log fire and honesty bar. The bedrooms are basic but clean and functional. There is a sauna, but we did not have time to make use of it. The highlight of the evenig is the evenig meal . Guests are seated on long tables. An opportunity to practice Frence, Swedish, German and of course English! The food is excellent, plenty of it and well presented. ( a new chef this year ) We will certainly stay here again.

Stayed in the 3 apartments there. Spacious and really well kitted out, far better than anywhere else I've stayed (and others with me agreed), often for much more money. It's the first (& only one I'll actively look at returning to) place I'll check out for availability if I'm travelling with a big group in the future.

Really is ski-in, ski-out, standard is red but it was only a short few steps for anyway.

Staff were really friendly and make organisation much easier. They'll organise transfers, skipasses, discounted rental, fresh bread deliveries every morning and even have a heated ski-room that was a godsend. Very helpful, very good English, very friendly and efficient.

There's a good lift nearby and it's easy to get to the other lifts too. Only a few minutes walk to shops and the local Sherpa Supermarket deliver for free!

We, like most people, were in Serre Chevalier for the skiing. The service is all centred around the daily trip up the mountains and it works really well. The owners are Swedish and the general feel is Franco-Swedish. Breakfast is hearty, picnics can be arranged and brought to where you are in the mountains, and the evening meal is excellently prepared. There is no choice, but rather it feels like you are being looked after in someone's home. Even better is the honesty bar which helps pass the time between apres ski and dinner. The building is no concrete monstrosity either, but rather an old hotel in an old mountain village around which grew a ski resort. The service is fantastic and very personal without being imposing and they can fix everything for you from ski passes and ski hire to airport transfers. You just have to get there. The rooms are fairly basic, but appropriate given that most guests are there for the ski. We weren' there in the summer, but would imagine this would be a great base for rafting, mountain biking or other summer Alpine activites. Otherwise, location wise, it is about 500m from the main bars etc and about 100m to the pistes.
