We just celebrated a birthday over lunch at L'Odyssée, having heard wonderful things about this little restaurant situated within the walls of Villefranche-de-Conflent. A most charming young couple assure both the fine and original cuisine and the discreet yet warm reception and attentive service. We chose the menu at 26 €, though the more gastronomical 42 € menu was very tempting! From beginning to end, the dishes were well prepared and presented, always with creative and surprising additional touches. No shortcuts or time-savers here! Everything was made by the owners themselves, from the apéritif of crémant d'Alsace flavored with kiwi fruit to the chocolat fondant au caramel salé. We are thrilled with our 'discovery' of this little gem of a restaurant, and are now anxious to introduce many friends to it. SUPERB in every way!

Drawn in by the lobster on the menu we thoroughly enjoyed a lunch at L'Odyssee. Each course beautifully presented with a very high attention to detail. We ordered a 3 course meal, but found ourselves eating 7 courses of fine dining heaven. Each course as brilliant as each other. The Lobster dish for me was the best course I have ever had the pleasure of eating, only usually found in restaurants awarded a Michelin star. We're looking forward to our next visit and what delights will be on the menu! Thank you. Adam + Nicky @ Bristol

This quiet, elegant restaurant is a must if you are looking for a special and memorable evening meal. The menu choice at first seemed a little restricted as we were trying to choose for a group of eleven ranging from 9-75yrs but we trusted the chef, just went with it and had a delicious and exciting meal beyond our expectations. There was nothing not to like.

The set €26 menu was exceptional value ( a la carte is available) as not only was each starter, main course and dessert beautifully and freshly cooked and presented but we were treated to surprise amuse-bouche along the way - a mouthful of light roquefort mousse on pear chutney to start, a fresh goat's cheese and courgette bundle to cleanse the palate before dessert and inventive petits fours of beetroot meringue, mini crystallised fruit cake and an airy raspberry marshmallow after dessert.

The chef is obviously very talented and turned out dishes such as melt in the mouth courgette tarte, wonderfully garnished with parcels of smoked duck as a starter, home made salmon ravioli in a perfect mussel cream sauce as a main, and home made mango sorbet inside a passion fruit mousse which was a work of art on a plate.

The young man and wife team, who have only been running this small restaurant in the heart of Villefranche since May, made us feel so welcome and individually cooked for. The wife's English was good enough to describe the dishes in great detail and her husband would pop out to check we were all enjoying his creations that he was rightly yet almost humbly proud of.
Although the menu sounded complicated at first for the children in our group, it was so expertly put together that they all ate things they didn't know they liked and every plate was almost licked clean.

I urge you to try this hidden gem (but book first, we saw quite a few turned away while we were eating). You should not leave Villefrance without experiencing L'Odyssee.

Having walked around the town, we selected this restaurant for dinner because we liked the range of meals on the menu.
The skilled enthusiasts who run the restaurant are preparing good meals from excellent ingredients.
In addition to the courses we ordered, we were given several extra mini-dishes. Each was enjoyable, helped us discover local specialities and provided further evidence of their skill
From their range of wines we were prompted to chose a Romeu (nothing to do with the nearby ski resort), it matched the different dishes and was a good choice.
It was warm weather and the table outside was quiet and well away from the bustle of the street.
I would recommend this as somewhere worth travelling to visit
