We knew we had chosen well as soon as we arrived, and saw our names on the welcome board. The purpose of visiting Villefranche was to take the litle yellow train into the mountains. We were not disappointed by that journey, but neither were we disappointed with our accommodation. The room was large, decorated in traditional French style, and with great views over the pool and the mountains.
Breakfast (including wonderful croissants and brioche) was taken around a large family table, and we had some interesting conversations with people of many different nationalities.
The hospitality was second to none. There was always someone around to ask about trains, restaurants etc. and we were often asked if we would like to join our hosts for a drink.
We would have no hesitation in recommending a l'Ombre du Fort to our friends. We arrived as starngers and were greeted and treated as friends
