Holidays in Lagrasse
Certificate of Excellence

The Garden Studio is the perfect accommodation in the picturesque village of Lagrasse. The standard of accommodation is excellent and the warmth and hospitality of Guy & his team of 'little helpers' is genuine - you feel like old friends being welcomed back. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious and had everything one could want. The other folks staying there were very friendly and we all gathered every evening for wine and stories of the day - we were even lucky enough to experience one of Guy's barbecues. The beautiful little town of Lagrasse is the perfect place to explore the area - it's big enough to have a good selection of great restaurants, shops and caves, but small enough to walk easily and become familiar. There are some lovely hill walks in the vicinity too! Our stay of one week was not enough and we will definitely return next year.

We were looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday and Guy's appartment ticked all the boxes. High standards of comfort and amenites in a wonderfully restored ancient building, situated in an unspoilt medieval village with an Abbey, a choice of good local restaurants and surrounded by vinyards, pretty countryside, quiet roads and and castles - perfect! We stayed for two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. There is so much to see and do in this area and Lagrasse makes an ideal centre.
There is a very welcoming atmosphere at the appartments that helps you to relax immediately. Inside, the Garden Appartment has an elegant and comfortable living area, an attractive bedroom with an enormous bed, a very modern bathroom and a well fitted kitchen containing every appliance necessary for easy living. The courtyard is delightful allowing an element of privacy if required or more social and communal activities, whether you wish to eat in the open air, enjoy a glass of wine or swim in the pool.
Guy and Dave are attentive and helpful but unobtrusive hosts, and we were lucky enough to enjoy two of Dave's delicious BBQ's!
We would recommend visiting the Cathar Castles,Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi, all within easy driving distance. The coast is equally near and accessible. We intend to return; we had such a wonderful time.

Room Tip: All the appartments are outstanding.

I keep reading the word idyllic in the other reviews of Guy's apartments, so I had better find a new word to use. The words magical, tranquil and other-wordly come to mind. The property is so old and has such an incredible atmosphere. It is also very lovingly restored and has lost none of its history in its renovation. The set up is very child friendly as it is a walled garden and an elevated swimming pool with child-proof gates so we were able to relax and enjoy a glass of wine while our son played in the garden with the resident (and very cute) dog Chilly who becames firm friends with our son throughout the holiday.
We also loved the fact that it was such a sociable set up, which is beyond anything that is usual to expect from a self catering situation. You do not feel in any way obliged to socialise, but if you fancy some company over a glass of wine when they are around, Guy is a lot of fun, as are Dave and Chloe who were helping him this summer. The whole Aude region is a really special part of France, the history is amazing and we had a wonderful time exploring local vineyards, Carcassonne, dramatic hill top castles and caves. The river is great to swim in and the whole village is so beautiful. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The studio was great for us as we only have one young child at present and it meant we did not waste...

We travelled to Guys apartments in the last week of May 2011 and had a thoroughly relaxing and brilliant week. The photographs on the website do not do the apartments justice and the walled garden is just idyllic! In the corner of the garden is a pool which was a hit with the children and also the adults as it was a perfect place to sit and relax in the evening sun.
The charming historical village of Lagrasse has several restaurants to visit in the evenings although the well appointed apartments mean you dont have to eat out every night if you dont want to. We stayed in the top apartment (Grenier) and it was incredibly spacious. Two large bedrooms, both ensuite with lovely comfy beds and very quiet meant total relaxation!. We were lucky enough to be able to see all the apartments while we were there and all are sympathetically and beautifully restored to the same high standard as the Grenier.
I would have no hesitation in recommending that you visit this little piece of french paradise. We will definately be returning!!

What a wonderful and relaxed week in your lovely place. The spacious and well appointed Garden appartment was perfect for us. Guy and Chloe were great hosts and we really enjoyed the long evenings and company in the garden. Lagrasse is such a historic town and the restoration of your house does it justice. Thanks and see you again.

I just returned home after spending a week in the Garden Studio. When I first arrived and walked through the gate, I felt like I had entered a secret garden. The garden setting was so serene that after 24 hours I felt like I had been on vacation a week. Guy, Chloe and Dave were the best hosts ever - I felt like a friend and a guest - in the very best sense of the word - rather than someone who had just dropped in to stay for a week while on holiday. The medieval farmhouse has been so beautifully restored and renovated - taken down to the ground and then rebuilt with great attention to the history of the house, re-using the original materials where possible but totally modern inside the apartments. Be sure to ask Guy for a tour of any unoccupied apartments and to see the pictures of what it looked like before. It's an amazing transformation but the house remains true to its roots. The Lagrasse area is beautiful and there is so much to see - though I must admit that my small dog (who was welcomed without question) and I spent a lot of time just enjoying the serenity and beauty of this magical garden. Guy knows the area, speaks French, and is really part of the community. He hosted a barbeque for his guests and neighbors while I was there and it was the highlight of the week. I recommend this wonderful place very highly and am looking forward to my next visit. As to comments about the pictures not doing the setting justice - that's true, but that is in part because pictures can never capture the wonderful atmosphere of the apartments and garden or the warmth of the hosts. Oh - and the internet connection is FAST.

We spent a week at the end of April in the Garden apartment. No pictures can do this place justice, it really is so beautiful! The studio is very spacious with a great fully fitted kitchen including a dishwasher. The living room with log burning fire (lit for our arrival) was very comfortable whilst being smart, clean and elegant. There is a large bedroom area, easily split from the living room by a heavy curtain and a stylish and clean shower room. Guy has done an outstanding job renovating this gem of a building. Be sure to ask him about the incredible history. The garden is large with lots of different terrace and patio areas and a swimming pool (it was a bit too chilly for us in April but I'm sure it's lovely once it's warmed up!) Lagrasse is a lovely and very friendly village fully deserving of its 'prettiest village in France' title. We felt very welcome and loved sitting outside the cafes, visiting the boulangerie and enjoyed in great meal in Hostellerie Des Corbieres as well as trips further afield to Peyrepertuse, Carcassonne and the coast. Thanks very much to our hosts, Guy, Chloe, Davros and resident dog Chilli. Highly recommended!
