Owner description: This great little award-winning and family-friendly Museum contains two fun and fact-packed biographical galleries, the fantabulous interactive Story Centre and a sunny courtyard. Situated in Great Missenden where Roald Dahl lived for over 36 years, it was created as a home for the author’s archive (which visitors can see on our regular tours) and as a place to inspire creativity and a love of reading in children, about which Roald Dahl was passionate.

I took my son, who is an avid Roald Dahl fan, to this little museum. He very much enjoyed all of the interactive activities. I thought that this was Dahl's actual house but it wasn't. There was a recreation of the shed that Dahl used to work in and that was very interesting. Quite expensive as there were only three main rooms to look at but all was very informative. We didn't have enough time to include a walk around Great Missenden or the woodland walk, so that was a shame.

Was taken here as a surprise by my lovely sister :) I never thought about where Roald Dahl lived/wrote his books, but it was really nice to see. We did a little walk around the town and up to the church where Roald Dahl is buried, which was interesting to see parts of his history. Then we went around the museum and although it was small there was plenty to see and lots of facts to learn about. I liked seeing the hut that they have re-constructed, where he spent most his time writing his stories. It made me want to re-read all his children's book, but then they are good so, why not? :)

We also visited the Cafe Twit, which was quite crowded and as we had my little niece with us, we went to sit in the Children's Eating Room, after purchasing our drinks and snacks. It was actually nicer in there because it was quieter! The scones we had were lovely, very soft and fluffy. The chocolate brownie was okay but not as good as it looked. Would recommend visiting with children, as we didn't have any children with us (only a baby), but there was plenty for children to see and interact with.

It was ok, rather expensive for what it was, but i hope all the money goes to the museum upkeep, then you dont mind so much.,

It's a really good resource and there's much for all children to do of all ages BUT attention to detail please - story bags need checking and replenishing and the craft cafe organising on a more regular basis. Cafe Twit is just a hopeless place to visit. Always too crowded, VERY expensive and just lacks space to cater for even smaller visitor numbers.

Not too commercial and thoughtfully put together. Great for kids and adults alike. Also proved to be a nice place to stop for a bite to eat and a wander rounds the local small but unique shops
